Love but Please Fix Audio ❤️
Love Dr. Lyon and this podcast. I hate to complain, but is there a way to “buffer” the audio or adjust the mics? I don’t know what it is, but the audio is SO crystal clear that you can hear every little mouth noise 😩 With that being said, thank you so much for the valuable info you provide 🙏🏻 Gabrielle is a great host!

    Episode with Shane
Best episode yet! You are both so inspirational and as a veteran who went into nursing, hearing the way he doesn’t stress even big obstacles is something I’m going to keep in mind. Love you guys together!!!

    Jeff Krasno
Jeff Krasno was amazing, and sadly too good for her. The way she interrupted him was so disrespectful. Then there’s the idiotic ads interrupting conversations about distraction and monkey mind. He was grounded and great, her not so much.

    Constantly interrupting
I think Dr. Lyon is full of great knowledge but unfortunately her incessant interruptions of guests made me stop listening. She asks a great question, they start to answer and then she bulldozes in and answers for them… never allowing them to answer completely or even finish a sentence. I was really looking forward to this podcast but can’t listen because of all the interruptions. Why have guests on if you just want to do the talking for yourself?

    Interruptions
I’ve never left a podcast review but hope she takes this one to heart…the amount of times her guest was interrupted mid sentence (Jeff Krasno) was insane. Let your guests speak or just do a solo episode!

    Please stop interrupting the guests
This latest episode with Jeff Krasnos was so hard to listen to you because the host constantly interrupted him with questions he was already getting at, and he couldn’t finish a full sentence. It was so distracting and difficult to listen to.

    Mutual admiration society alert
Currently I'm listening to Dr. Israetel's episode. His massive love for himself permeates every word. Good material but is the cursing so necessary? The jokes about Taco Bell and basically that overweight people are just undisciplined. I am not overweight but I have experienced more difficulty in maintaining my weight in my 60s so I think it is more nuanced than 100% calories in calories out. And believe me, I get it, you guys are the most educated people on the earth. The mutual admiration society where you lavish praise on each other and your accomplishments are just nauseating. Every👏🏼single👏🏼episode👏🏼.

    An echo chamber
Meh. The guests are brought in solely to validate and reinforce what she already believes. I was hoping for a strong female perspective on health but her condescending and often patronizing tone really takes away from any value the message might have had.

    Dr Abraham Morgentaler - Excellent!
Wow! What a super podcast. I was diagnosed with low T and a very famous med clinic declined treatment stating there were too many side effects. I sought treatment elsewhere and was placed on testosterone and thyroid. The quality of my life has improved beyond expectations and the conversation with Dr Morgentaler reinforced my course of treatment

    Wonderful!
So glad I found your show! I've been dying for more content like this

    We get it, cut calories
I wanted to like it. I was looking for the female Huberman. But instead she brings in guest after guest who says eat less calories. Some even mocking and mean to overweight people. As someone who is in good shape I was hoping for useful new content. This is just redundant.

    Too many distractions!
Overall good guidelines but too many interruptions and inside jokes. Self esteem is great but being overly confident is a little arrogant. Knowledge is power but the delivery is lacking

Too many interruptions and inside jokes
I’ve found some very valuable content in this podcast overall but I find the host all too often is seeking validation in her theories and philosophies of wellness when she asks specific questions of her guests. She tends to ask the same questions and gets the same answers which builds this echo chamber of a podcast. There isn’t a lot of contrarian points of view to look at the other side of things. The host’s delivery seems scolding at times, like ‘you better do this or else!’ Also sometimes she asks a question to her host and will preface the guest’s answer with ‘I know the answer but for my audience…’ This isn’t necessary and there is almost an implication of the words ‘obviously’ and ‘ignorant’ in that sentence. Overall I am pleased with most of the content but these observations I feel are distracting at times.

    Mixed feelings
I listen to Peter Attia regularly and sometimes Andrew Huberman. I thought Dr. Lyon would be similar. Like other reviews, some of the topics and speakers are interesting but Dr. Lyon tends to interrupt her guests a lot or goes off on a (personal) tangent. I’m also very turned off by the constant ads. I recognize the importance of them but they’re too frequent and sound disingenuous. How many supplements can one take?

    First impression is lackluster.
Overall, not a bad podcast. However, I had to finally turn off the episode with Dr. Mike Israetel because I got tired of hearing the f-word in just about every sentence. This is the first episode that have listened to so I might give it another chance with another guest.

    Good, but too many interruptions!
I like Dr. Lyon and she’s a good podcast host, but I found that she interrupted the guest MANY times with another follow up question right as they were starting to explain or answer the primary question. And the podcast would go off on tangents. She would benefit from letting the guest finish their thought! I really wanted to hear it!

    Insightful but frustrating interruptions
I want to like this podcast but I find it frustrating when the host interrupts her guests frequently which takes is distracting, rude and annoying. Let folks finish their line of thinking first. Some episodes I find are less for the layperson and include a lot of medical jargon which doesn’t Interest me.
  • JosieGRN
    Great content
The content in this podcast is relevant and informative. 4 stars because the host interrupts her guests repeatedly and doesn’t let them finish their thoughts. The episode with Dr. Layne Norton was particularly annoying because of the hosts constant interruptions and non sequiturs.

    Very informative
Dr Lyon provides wonderful content to help us be our own advocate while navigating health and wellness.

    Useful but too long
I like the topics of the podcasts but they are too long, unfortunately I start to zone out and then I am not able to learn anything.

    So much interrupting
I decided to listen to the episode with Alan Bacon on weight loss Plateau and she interrupted him so much that he couldn’t answer her own questions. Towards the beginning, she asked where would people start, but then kept asking him other questions and the original question was never answered if people should start with restricting calories and losing fat or maintaining or increasing calories while working on muscle. It could have been such a more articulate podcast, but she kept throwing a million questions at him every five seconds.

    Thank you!
Thank you for being on the Jocko podcast! If not, I would have never known about you. I recently started listening to your podcasts and reading your book. Both are a wealth of information.
  • Loved Dr. Bacon
    Thank you Dr. Allan Bacon
I recently listened to an episode of a podcast featuring Dr. Allan Bacon, a respected expert in nutrition and dieting. This episode was a game-changer for me, offering valuable insights that have transformed how I approach my diet and overall health. Dr. Bacon’s approach to nutrition is refreshingly realistic and sustainable. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the "why" behind our eating habits, encouraging listeners to look beyond fad diets and focus on long-term, healthy eating patterns. One key takeaway from the episode was his explanation of the importance of balance and moderation. Rather than advocating for strict dietary restrictions, Dr. Bacon discussed how incorporating a variety of foods can lead to better nutritional balance and a more enjoyable eating experience. Another important lesson I learned from Dr. Bacon’s appearance was the concept of "mindful eating." He spoke about the significance of being aware of what we eat and how it affects our bodies, promoting the idea of listening to our hunger cues and eating when genuinely hungry rather than out of boredom or emotional triggers. This perspective has encouraged me to be more conscious of my eating habits, helping me make healthier choices without feeling deprived. Dr. Bacon also highlighted the importance of personalization in dieting. He emphasized that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to nutrition, and the best diet is one that fits an individual's lifestyle, preferences, and nutritional needs. This has inspired me to tailor my eating habits to suit my unique needs rather than following generic diet plans. Overall, Dr. Allan Bacon’s insights on the podcast have given me a more holistic and flexible approach to nutrition. His emphasis on balance, mindfulness, and personalization has reshaped how I think about dieting, focusing on sustainable and enjoyable eating habits rather than short-term fixes. I highly recommend this episode to anyone looking to improve their relationship with food and gain a deeper understanding of nutrition.

Great info but needs production structure
I love the info and any scientist making science available. However, conversations get changed abruptly by her giving and ad and then back again. Please insert a musical interlude or change the voice tone to distinguish and give us some transition before and after and advertisement. Some tweaks in the intro of the guest and topic could be great as well as a conclusion. I ran thankful for the podcast I hope the feedback is helpful

    Really
I am 38 minutes in and all I’ve heard is his background.,. I have no idea who the people are who he refers to… it would be helpful if you said it’s a biography in the notes. I tune in to hear what will help me moving forward.. muscle is a topic I want to learn more about… not all this background.

    Long
Helpful information but podcasts are far too lengthy and need to be condensed.

Too many assumptions, inaccessible terminology and salesy
For the most part the host and the guests sound like they are competing on who knows more buzz words or medical terminology. Also too much selling of supplements. I have listened to 5 episodes so far. I learned a few things but not sure how much longer I can stay here.

    Great content with poor audio
This could be my new binge podcast (love the content!) but the sound quality makes it hard to enjoy. Dr Lyon is particularly difficult to hear. Sometimes she is so quiet I have to rewind and repeat to understand what she is saying. In the same interview she will suddenly closer to the mic(?) Other than that I enjoy the guests and the topics!
  • NoGains4me
Great podcast but please speak up Dr!
I love this podcast. It’s informative and just interactive enough to keep you interested while still getting to the point. Please for all of our sake though speak up or adjust your Mike Dr. Lyon, I can hardly hear half of what you say compared to most of your guests and that’s usually my favorite part!

    A must !
What a fantastic show. Dr. Dom and Dr. Lyon de-mystify psychology, psychiatry and how we should look at our own mental health. His story alone is worth the listen. Thank you both for a fascinating show.

    TED NAIMAN IS EMBARRASSING
The episode with Ted Naiman was unbearable and a complete waste of time. What an absolute clown to have on your show. Multiple things he mentioned: “the source of your protein does not matter” basically saying animal protein and pea/soy protein are equally beneficial - what???? Also mentioned that “saturated fats are empty calories, and not very helpful” he then says we should follow the food guidelines instead. THEN, goes on and rambles about how ground beef and red meat are bad due to their saturated fat content. Ted Naiman is an absolute joke. I would take every piece of advice from this episode and do the complete opposite. THE SOURCE OF YOUR PROTEIN ABSOLUTELY MATTERS AND YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY CARE ABOUT THE PROTEIN YOU ARE CONSUMING. WE SHOULD NOT FEAR SATURATED FATS; WE ABSOLUTELY NEED THEM.

    Excellent Content, Relevant and Real
I am grateful for the podcast on Body Composition and all of your content. The conversation about weight loss resistance and how many hit a major wall with body fat percent is something I would love more information on to help my clients who are willing to do the work and not get the results they deserve. Thank you for all that you do to help others. I have been a fitness professional for 30 years and never has anyone spoken so clearly about what I have seen firsthand with my clients.

    Great info Dr. Lyon!
I appreciate all of the knowledge you bring the audience about protein intake, exercise, nutrition, etc! You have helped me and others beyond measure - keep up the good work!
  • Carnarolo
Too many interruptions by Lyon during the interview
Great content but I wish Dr. Lyon would not feel compelled to interject all the time as it disrupts the flow of the conversation. Because of the time delay between the speakers it’s even worse. It is extremely distracting and all the interjections prevent guests from completing their statements.

Need To Hear The Other Side!
I love the content. But bring in researchers that don’t align with Dr. Lyon’s worldview! We get it. Eat animal protein. And a lot of it. But there is tons of data on plant based diets. The Mediterranean diet (is not plant based but has an emphasis on low animal protein) is the most researched diet there is (other than fasting). Bring in researchers on the benefits of plant based diets and the benefits to climate change, to challenge Dr. Lyon! Let’s get some debating going from the other side. Please!

    Some misleading information and guests
I listen to many popular health podcasts and Dr Lyon has been a guest on many. I find it refreshing that a female physician is promoting strength training and building muscle as a means to health for all but particularly women. She has had some really great guests however, I find her singular focus on muscle somewhat myopic. It feels more like a way to become “niche famous” than a paradigm shift for the practice of medicine. Her most recent episode with Marie Claire Harver left much to be desired. Harver is a proponent of keto/fasting and peddles an expensive diet community membership. She claims to be science based but much of her approach is anecdotal or use of observational data “suggesting benefit” as evidence based. With as fast as the fields of medicine and health change, both women seemed overly confident in their interpretation of current data. This felt like a giant commercial for Harver who is also trying to be “niche famous” by selling you information that is free and somewhat contradictory to some of Dr Lyon’s own recommendations.

Explain information to those not a Doctors
Love this information! I would like the information be brought down to a level of those that are not doctors or someone who does not clearly understand the terms . It’s so informative and has so much benefit. I want to learn more about the body and muscle to better my aging process.

Eat all the protein!! Lift all the weights!!!
Yea!! Thank you Dr. Lyon! This podcast has helped me navigate through the weeds and junk information to get to the real information that I needed to take effective action. My daily mantra is “Eat all the protein!! Lift all the weights!!! Because Dr. Lyon said so!!”
  • JOY438
    Discovered & Delighted
I remember my online coach tagged Dr. Lyon as the protein doctor. My brain failed it then I saw her podcast and have listened to a few so far. I loved the meal planning episode. While some interviews are over my head, I feel like she’s good about summarizing for the non PhD types. I’m definitely looking into getting her book, and I plan on revisiting episodes to take note for myself and the clients I serve at my training studio. So much information on her podcast that really is not talked about enough! Yes lift weights, eat right and move!

My new favorite health and wellness podcast!!!
I discovered Dr. Lyon on the Dhru Purohit podcast. So glad I did! I enjoy her straight forward science and data based approach to sharing health information in a simple way. Prioritizing protein is so simple, yet most doctors aren’t even talking about the importance and value of protein in a diet. I’ve struggled with weight issues my entire life. I feel like I’ve finally found a plan which I can easily incorporate into my lifestyle that actually works and I’m seeing incredible results! I really enjoy Dr. Lyon’s expert guests who share invaluable health knowledge. I’m also sleeping better too thanks to the tips from the sleep episode. I highly recommend this podcast and Dr. Lyon’s book Forever Strong! Excellent health and wellness content. Thank you Dr. Lyon for sharing your protein passion!
  • chheeeks
    Awesome & transparent breakdown
This podcast isnt just transparent but Dr Lyon and guests break down and back up with other sources and you are easily able to come to your own conclusion. These are conversations everybody (should) can take away something from. You can leave your primary doctor with confusion and so many unanswered questions but listen to this podcast and truly walk away with new perspective and clarity. 5 stars!

Great episode with Dr. Don Layman!
This has been my favorite episode thus far! Your down to earth explanation of concepts and functions is so helpful to my understanding of the important role protein and exercise plays in our health. I am a 59 year old woman who keeps getting stronger and healthier as I age with guidance of amazing teachers like you and Dr. Layman. Thank you!
