malynagaloreDon’t talk down to listenersI overall don’t mind Calm News but why frame it as if this podcast is the only source of information listeners have about what’s going on in the world? Jessica and Amanda are smart people but aren’t experts on every topic and acting like we just want your take on the news then will go back to our impossibly hard lives with no access to other information is condescending. Also don’t need Amanda’s 7 minute summary about what the conversation will be about beforehand like we have no clue about anything. Unfortunately this feels emblematic of the mission creep WCDHT has overall. It can’t just be interesting conversations about some hard topics. It has to be the podcast that will save YOU and THE COUNTRY and now I guess the world. Sorry but this is how the content increasingly comes off.

Snimball711Like a cookie for your heartWe can do hard things. We can. Right at the moment when we need it most-Abby, Glennon, and Amanda remind us of this. It’s like a favorite treat but for your heart and soul.

PinistaWe need a pod squad family meeting about calm news!I know many people love the Calm News, I see its value in the present moment AND I wish it were a separate Podcast. Every time I see the calm news episode pop up I feel anything but calm, I feel forced into a reminder of the chaos we’re living in and the worst of what is out there. WCDHT and the pod squad used to be something I turned to be in community on a soul level, to grow in my humanity, to have a balance of hard things to do (and easy things remember when we did easy things sometimes?) Now it’s just a weekly reminder of the GIANT MESS of political hard things we’re doing and that’s doesn’t feel aligned with the spirit of WCDHT where we talk about the totality of the vulnerable, beautiful, messy, and meaningful human experience. What’s happening to us? Why did we let this precious space get so overcome with the news?

MyGrainMamaEven an elder like meI don’t remember where I heard about your podcast, but I’m glad I did. The name grabbed me because I used to tell my daughter she could do hard things. Scary things, too. I still have to say those things to myself, as well. Even an elder like me can get a lot out of your discussions! I’m a little sorry women are dealing with so many of the same issues we tried to conquer all those decades ago. But I think each generation adds a layer of understanding to the reasons and ways to overcome. You are teaching this crone, and reminding me how to be fully me.

12levelokJessica WI theories off baseJessica’s theories about Wisconsin are wrong. I voted for Crawford as WI Supreme Court justice, but I still support most of what Trump is doing and what Musk is doing with Doge. My choice for judge in Wisconsin had nothing to do with Trump or Musk. What is does have to with is that I am woman in Wisconsin who understands that the decisions surrounding woman’s healthcare are now a state decision. Although it’s hard for me to say abortion should be legal for anyone at anytime, I do think it’s needs to be a choice. Many of my republican friends feel the same way. But Jessica is making very broad assumptions about the election outcome and people’s views that are likely not true. That seems to the problem with the entire Democratic Party. Keeping this in mind might help you focus on issues, different views and possibilities for the party that are not so black and white.

#canadaystrongWE CAN DO HARD THINGSYes we can do hard things. I have been fighting terminal ovarian cancer for 3 years 10 months and 16 days. To say it has been a grind is an understatement. One of the phrases I repeat in my mind is WE CAN DO HARD THINGS. Thank you for encouraging messages and thoughtful insights in to navigating this life experience.

Liz3309Fiercely, humbly, beautifully realThese three women and their amazing guests really go there—sharing openheartedly about their inner and outer lives, about issues that face many of us. I love hearing how they continue to grow and thrive in the face of challenges. (Also, they are hilarious.) I laugh and cry and nod my head when I listen. I have been inspired to do a few hard things myself! ❤️❤️❤️

BbstinerCalm NewsThank you, thank you, thank you for bringing Calm News into our world. Like many of us, I’ve wondered how to both stay tuned to what matters and keep my energy and nervous system in a place of service and not despair. Your podcast is the answer. I am quick to share it with friends and family who all have the same experience. Thank you to Jessica and the pod squad team for producing this weekly.

KortniCrayolaLove love love loveI’ve been a long time reader, recent listening binger, and forever admirer of We Can Do Hard Things. The conversational topics you all bounce around feel as if you’re speaking directly to me at times, and the way you all talk to each other + your guests feels so familiar. I know for a fact we’d all be besties if we had ever met, so it feels like talking to friends when I’m listening and talking to myself in response haha. Much appreciated, much loved, and I look forward to all the episodes to come. -kort 💟

caragreene37Not as good as it used to beI used to love this podcast, but it’s gotten increasingly less interesting and insightful. It used to feel like real discoveries were happening, difficult conversations were being had, and important voices were being amplified. Now it feels like Glennon (especially), Abby, and Amanda are just out of touch. Also, it often feels like they’re talking down to us, the audience. Like “let’s breakdown it down really simply so everyone can understand what we already get.” I used to listen to episodes more than once. Now I often find myself turning it off before I’ve gotten all the way through it.

MGibson620Loving Calm News!Calm News is the level-headed, real discussion that I need every week to navigate this dumpster fire. Thank you!!

tjbakk22Over for meI don’t want to be the kind of person who writes a negative review, but here I am. My hope is that it is helpful feedback, rather than a burn. I came for here for sisterhood, intimate personal stories, mental health talk, feeling more normal, inspiration, connection…but this has become a news outlet. And though I like the idea—It’s not calm news for me—such an oxymoron. It adds to my anxiety, and I get enough of that elsewhere. So for that reason, I’m out (for now). Love to you all.
-
kthwhiteA Literal Guide to LifeI feel incredibly lucky to be here and hear these women. What an age we live in that we can connect with such incredible minds…I feel you three are like my soul sister heros and I’m just so grateful. I think I can handle most of what life throws at me with what I’ve gleaned here and I just want to say thank you. I need to come in and edit my review to also say the Calm News has been a game changer for me staying informed. Thank you for allowing me to stay informed and maintain my sanity!

PepnstuffReconsider your advertising...There are many things I love about this podcast- the Yellen updates being one of them. I would just say that it's super hypocritical to take ad revenue from Whole Foods which is in partnership with Amazon while simultaneously telling people to think carefully about where they shop. Put your money where your mouth is guys. If you're asking the "podsquad" to do this, you should be doing it too.
-
Reiki HealsLove it!Love the combination of current news (Yemen bombing group chat debacle episode was the best version I’ve heard of what happened and why it was f’d up), mind/body support, personal growth, and Glennon’s priceless brilliance/vulnerability. It’s helpful knowing you’re out there. ❤️

NadineBarometerChocolateBest podcast out thereIf you had to choose just one podcast, I would suggest this one. I love Glennon, Amanda and Abby, and I learn so much from the wide range of topics, guests and conversations. Every episode is loaded with wisdom gems, and after each listen, I feel fortified, seen, and wiser. My favorite episode is the one with Andrea Gibson, but honestly, every single episode is a little masterpiece. Such a joy to discover this podcast.

Mt. Shasta BirdThis podcast!Talking with Lesbian Icons like the Indigo Girl’s is so crucial. And the deep winding conversations are so important!

HartfordCBPoignant, Authentic, Funny, Vulnerable, KindGlennon and Abby (and Sister!) are a must-listen twice a week. Uplifting, soul-searching, and witty, their conversations make me feel like I’m hanging out with some cool, smart, thoughtful friends and their cool, smart, thoughtful friends. The addition of Jessica Yellin is a great innovation and very timely given the overwhelm with the news cycle this former news junkie has experienced. She is delightful and smart. There’s a no-nonsense freshness to her approach. Thanks so much for showing us other ways to learn about and process the news, Jessica and Glennon (and Sister and Abby!)

AliceinPortlandBirthdays are hard thingsA best friend recommended WCDHT podcast to me, and now I’m recommending it to you, friend. First time listener, the birthday podcast sort of blew my mind. I had never thought of the reason behind the mixed emotions of a birthday. I’ll never approach my birthday the same way. Thanks for your funny, thoughtful, read conversation.

mihrllecNot loving new contentIt seems someone with a top rated podcast should not every week be posting an old “best of” episode. Why? At this level why can’t we be getting new episodes, just seems so lazy. Also, the political Yellen episodes every week just don’t fit with what this episode started with. Maybe once in awhile but weekly isn’t the “we can do hard things” we all fell in love with. I have the same political views as Glennon, I just don’t want to add another political news podcast. I want the one I originally decided to follow. Now deleting episodes before even listening…
-
amyj from paThe bestTruly one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to! Glennon, Abby and Amanda are so authentic and engaging. They discuss important issues that are so rarely exposed in mainstream media and talk about them in a way that feels like you’re having a direct conversation with them. I’m always excited to discover to another episode. Loyal pod squad listener. 💗

wolex17894Glennon's Self AbsorptionLet me first say-I read Love Warrior in 2019 and became a huge fan of Glennon and sister. And I absolutely fell in love with Abby by reading Forward and Untamed and following her on IG. This podcast has given me insight and inspiration many times. With that said, sometimes it's nearly impossible for me to get past Glennon's chronic self absorption. It's like she wants an invisible spotlight on her in every episode, even the ones focused on Abby or Amanda. When I saw the blurb for the Dylan Mulvaney episode say how much Glennon relates to Dylan's experience, I could only roll my eyes. I swear to God, if a blind Indian elephant tamer from the 1800s time traveled and came on the podcast, Glennon would find a way to say that the experience was exactly like the time she was reading a magazine on a flight or something. Also, it's hard for me to listen sometimes because Glennon talks over and interrupts Abby and Amanda so much. Abby and Amanda are two amazing people with storied careers, and I find myself leaning into hear the rest of one of their thoughts when Glennon interrupts to change the subject back to her favorite topic: herself. Girl, you've done amazing and, yes, hard things, but let the universe revolve around other people sometimes.

Court 45Please bring back the old formatI miss two shows a week on hard things. Calm news is fine but I get my news elsewhere and I really miss hearing the content that fed my soul twice a week versus the news which is inherently stressful no matter how you frame it these days.
-
Ksuite77YikesLacking depth, victim oriented and out of touch. Repeating headlines and sound bites based on lies.
-
ughusernameCalm News- thank you!I’ve been a follower of Jessica Yellin since the quarantine and she’s always had an amazing approach to delivering the news. Glennen trolls in and out of my mental health journey as needed. The three of you, together, processing what’s going on in our country calmly and coming up with the agreement that we absolutely need change brought me peace. Thank you.
-
HopperCMWMiss the Pre-Political DaysI’ll always like and appreciate them as people, but I don’t enjoy some of the more recent episodes. To me, they feel like one-sides political conversations. Where I used to go to feel connected, I now feel alienated. Of course they can make whatever content they want and don’t need to please me — I just miss the good ol’ days.
-
GRATEFUL LISTENER!!!!!!!!!!!love thembeen my favorite podcast for years!

Colette in NYAlways be a Buffalo….I was told an interesting fact about buffalos. Although a very “under the radar” animal that has survived through history, I find them so inspirational. The buffalo is the only animal that guides their herd directly towards an incoming storm where other animals run away from the storm. Fear, panic and disassociation, the herd is separated and even more vulnerable. Running towards the storm allows them to survive it earlier and faster to get through the storm as a herd together with less potential tragedy. I appreciate you all being the buffalos that guide me through my life’s storms and realize I can and have done hard things. And I am stronger in myself for it. Thank you for all you do 🩷 Love you guys!

Chef Ray BThank YouAbby, Amanda, and Glennon bring to me an intelligent joy that I did not know I was missing. I am so glad I found this podcast.. y'all click so well, the conversations with guests are so fun and inspiring not to mention thought provoking. The best part I would say is it's so honest and real. It makes me feel like I am in the room having the conversation with you all because all of you make everyone feel like they are a part of your tribe. Thank you for existing.

AmeeTaylorI love Abby, Glennon, and Sister!I listen every week. I don’t miss an episode. WCDHT is the community I want to live in, so I listen while I run and walk and talk about the episode with my sister and friend. 💓💐💓☀️

Klara47Hard to listen sometimesI cannot stand high pitch voices sometimes on this podcast. Just hard to listen, it is too much, even though they have good topics.

ReykieCalm NewsTHANK YOU for Calm News!! I’ve been struggling to find the balance between a civic duty to stay informed and a duty to myself to stay regulated. I usually get my news from a few select sources on Instagram, but needed to turn off socials for a while. Calm News is truly the perfect solution. Jessica Yellin is a treasure and thanks to Amanda for asking the EXACT questions I’m thinking when Jessica covers the news headlines.
