HuskerFan2024Best teacher ever !!!My guitar journey started in February of this year. I immediately searched for a podcast to learn and grow while on the go. You can tell that Lee cares and doesn’t mind sharing his knowledge. This podcast has given me the confidence to push through the struggles of learning guitar. I also joined the Play guitar Academy to push me to the next level. Thank you for all your hard work Lee. 🙌
-
wildheartDEncouraging and transparentLee is open and transparent about the realities of what should be included in an effective, efficient guitar mastery journey, but he’s also EXTREMELY encouraging. Keeps the joy in yhe journey. Well done!

the ipsÀ true educator !You are a master teacher. You know exactly what information to pass on, and how to do it effectively. Also you have heart Lee! You give of your time and knowledge with grace and caring. Thank you. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and family.

Jmason7Great podcast!I just found this podcast a month ago or so and I started with episode 1. I am currently on episode 105 and I really am impressed with how much information you share and your genuine kindness and care for teaching guitar. I am hooked, thank you for your help with my guitar progress and I am sure there are many others that share my opinion!

RZane4Feel great about where you are in you guitar journey, and even better about where you’re going!5 stars for sure! Lee is a fantastic teacher and motivator. Let’s face it, learning to play the guitar can be humbling on its best day and super frustrating on its worst. Lee leaves you feeling like there is hope - even for a guy who, at 49 years old, often wondered if he would ever figure this dang instrument out! Lee talks often about the different stops along the way on the guitar journey, and I can always identify with his descriptions. Thanks, Lee, for a great podcast!

BossFatty DThe worlds best guitar podcast!I have been going through your podcast catalog, in January of 2023 I listened to episode 39. Episode 39 was a game changer for my guitar playing. I came into the year as an intermediate player and now I can hold my own with other players without thinking to hard. I want to thank you for opening up eyes to new ways of thinking about chords by creating off of string groupings and how to make alternative sounds by creating chords of each note of whatever key you are playing. Now I feel like I am in control of my guitar!! Five star podcast and a five star educator!!

6Nick6name69Don’t miss this podcastEverything about this podcast is good. The content is great and actually helpful, he’s not just teasing you trying to sell his lessons. (He does mention his lessons but he gives a lot of it away). The recording is good, his voice and tempo are good, and he really actually seems to care about teaching, might even say he’s passionate about teaching. Highly recommended. 666,420.69 stars!

BigdogjeffOne of the best podcastsHi lee I am a ups driver in Trenton New Jersey and spend most of my days with your voice in my ear buds. I started from the first show and now catching up I am on April 2022 and enjoyed every word you say ,about playing guitar. I am 53 years old and started playing guitar in December 2022 and got to the point where I am starting to struggle with timing and no one to tell me what I am doing wrong ,it’s getting hard . I am trying to decide what to do and how to be all I can be on the guitar. When I listen to you on your podcast it sounds like you could help me. I just don’t know what I should start with. But this pod cast is the best out there. I wish you still lived in Philadelphia because I would get personal lessons from you if you did. Lee Anderson you are up there in my book with joe perry , bb king ext all the greats. Keep up the great work on your pod cast and I will be there listening. Your friend you never new . Jeff waters

PRS DogGreat podcastLee is very genuine and really cares about teaching guitar not just showing off his own skills. He really understands and shows us the roadblocks we all experience and how to get through them and move on to play this fretboard puzzle. Valuable? YES!
-
MavislessGreat podcastGreat podcast geared more toward intermediate to advanced gitarists, but with enough content variety to entertain & educate begineers too. Also useful & entertaining for non-players who just love guitar - enhances your listening. I don't catch every podcast but I listen to most.
-
Aaron_LytleCommunication StyleLook forward to each episode. Lee has the ability to engage beginners to advanced players. The wide variety of topics keep me motivated to continue learning and practicing each day. (Which also leads to spending $$) 👍🏻🎸 The podcast and video combo has helped me reinforce the experience Lee is sharing.
-
Jeff K in DenverGood guitar podcastVery good podcast. He seems like a nice guy but also has a good skill set of being able to explain things in way that can be understood well. And he picks interesting topics.

Booyahkasha!Bottomless source of great guitar info!Lee is awesome! So knowledgeable and pleasant to listen to. I’ve learned a ton from this podcast during my drive to work and when walking my dog. Dude is skilled at breaking things down in a way that makes it all click into place. A rare gift that I benefit from over and over. Thank you Mr. Anderson. And keep ‘em coming!

JoeyD17I was wrong. You CAN learn/improve by listening to a podcastI was skeptical that a podcast could provide much help with learning, or in my case, getting reacquainted with an instrument. Lee has a knack for teaching in this format and I have learned a lot. I recommend this podcast to any beginner or intermediate that needs some applicable music theory to grow as a guitarist.

dayorkThe Podcast that restarted my love of guitarDuring the late 60's and early 70's I played in high school basically knew only a few open and bar chords, no lead guitar, forward 50 years and I wanted to start playing again. I stumbled onto this podcast 2 years ago and the guitar has become a big part of my life. I signed up for weekly coaching leasons and Lee has put me on an organized learning path that has been incredible. This podcast and Lee really changed my life!

Nick in Rhode IslandThis podcast changed my lifeI picked up the guitar a little over a year ago as a new hobby to help cope with the stress of COVID. Not long after, I randomly stumbled upon Lee’s podcast, which turned a simple hobby into a cathartic passion. Lee’s podcast and overall approach to teaching guitar is informed, structured, fun, not intimidating, nor snobby. I joined Lee’s academy a few months after starting to listen to his podcast, and the quality of my playing has sky rocketed. I’ve since recorded an album at home, played open mics, and received countless compliments from friends, family, and strangers about my progress. If you’re looking to improve your guitar playing regardless of skill level, give this podcast a listen…you won’t regret it.
-
KK GuitarBest Podcast For Everything GuitarBy far the best podcast for guitar! I’ve been listening for 2 years and have learned more from Lee than I’ve learned anywhere else. I’ve also become a member of his guitar academy and my playing has exploded into me playing better than I ever have before. If you want to really learn guitar as an instrument and not just how to play some chords and songs….Lee can help you reach all your guitar goals!

Un_LocoDon’t sleep on Lee, this is a solid podcastThere is some seriously good advice in here. I like to pop this on as I’m winding down for the evening and it gets me thinking about my practice, my goals, and some fresh ideas. He’s really hitting his stride this past year, and he has helped me re-evaluate my entire practice routine. And I can tell it’s made a huge difference in my playing.

SideHustleBandWonderful showI’ve listened to almost all of the almost 200 shows 2x some 4-5x. So much great information. Lee explains music and theory in a way that makes sense and makes you want to learn more. Great info for a beginner and intermediate players ir “career beginners” I wish Lee would do a podcast for practicing music in general. So much great info for how to practice music in general that almost every musician could gain something from a listen! Looking forward to the next 200 shows!
-
m1chaelGgreat for advanced guitaristswhat i like about this show is it isn’t geared towards beginners only. a beginner can definitely listen and learn, but there is generally takeaways every week for an advanced guitarist to cut his or her teeth on. great job, keep up the good work.

CprSplendiferousDiatonically Perfect Supplemental podcastPlease forgive the horrid play on words in the title but this podcast has been perfect for my guitar journey. Finally picked up the “battle axe” I was given about 10 years ago but never got set up or learn to play. Enter Covid. So since October I started this journey the cheapest way possible. Mostly you tube videos and one online guitar paid for program. Then I find play guitar podcast. My hands get tired very quickly for physical limitation reasons so I’ve been sooooo focused on music theory when I am spent from trying to play. This podcast is a perfect test for all the theory I’ve learned because even when you’re not that good at playing, when u understand theory u can listen to a clear crisp voice with clear crisp guitar play tips and literally see the fretboard in your mind as u listen. It’s kind of crazy actually. By no means ami as quick as an expert or even intermediate, but when he explains 7th chords, or chords in a scale, or notes in the major scale vs. the minor scale vs. pentatonic, theory forces you to imagine and hear where his fingers are placed and what notes within a small section of the guitar are being played. Just amazing stuff. I can’t wait for my finger strength, speed to catch up with my theory and beyond. When I get on my feet Lee, I will be definitely support your podcast in some way. Your lessons are built for a podcast and that can’t be easy to do teaching guitar. Good work man!
-
tnshmrbI am beyond GRATEFUL for this podcast!I have been playing guitar on and off for years and Lee meets you where you are! His lessons are clear and concise and I appreciate, not only his organization but, the supplemental resources he offers through his blog!

turfguy1969Playing while working!!I have been looking for a way to get guitar learning and instruction while I am working. This is it!! My drab winter days are now easier listening to this podcast. Very informative and well paced for me the upper beginner/ wanna be intermediate.

clarkelabaGreat information for all guitaristsI can’t believe I found this podcast Lee delivers valuable lessons for all levels of guitar playing And it’s all free Thanks Steve
-
J.S.SmothermanGreat, practical lessonsThis podcast is terrific. It’s a good blend of theory and practice. Great information shared in a conversational manner. Well done!
-
Deece13Such clarityI’ve been playing by ear for years. I needed to learn the language so I could communicate with other musicians. I’ve started playing with musicians who are classically trained and found it difficult to communicate what I was playing and this has been a god send. Thank you.
-
K1l21nAwesome!Thanks for this!

Happy Tall PaulJust What I NeedThank you Sir.

SeeingprogressGetting thereHi, I started barely knowing how to hold a guitar about 2 months ago. Now I feel I’m really coming along, playing songs and continuously understanding that nasty 6 letter word THEORY. You have a gift of relating to your audience. When you start a subject and I am not clear you always seem to break it down in a very relatable way. I’ll listen to your lessons over and over and always pick up more info. I am in my 60’s and just want to play for myself. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Yes even older people will learn from you. Please keep up your great work. You really DO make a difference. Murray
-
mja7442Great podcastI am 43 and tried to learn guitar at 15 then again at 30 and finally I have played daily for the last 3 and a half years I gain a lot form your podcast and they are fun to listen to thanks Mike
-
WaltGiBeginner’s thoughtsI started playing on 9-Dec-2019. Just now getting into chords and arpeggios. The shows on chords and opening up the fret board have really helped. Thanks for putting those shoes together.
-
Big-PappyThank you!I love this podcast. Lee has a great style for coaching. His approach is refreshing and so helpful. I love the variety of topics, the format, the clear progression, and the way he changes things up just occasionally. Thank you, Lee for all the time and effort you put into this. From Carl in Boise, Idaho.

Marty SlashAwesome!!!!Lee’s podcast is incredible! Found it around 3 weeks ago and have been binge listening on my commute ever since It’s amazing how Lee can teach guitar without needing to see him. Lee’s podcast has made me even more excited about my guitar journey.

New Rule!???Episode 50-Mixing Minor and Major PentatonicsI finally tried mixing Minor and Major Pentatonic scales and I feel like I entered a new universe of improvising. I had been spending a lot of time trying to master the minor pentatonic patterns and got pretty good at it and was having a lot of fun improvising over backing tracks. But like Lee said would happen, I started to feel “boxed in”. I remembered listening to episode 50 and thinking it would be way to complicated for me to mix the scales. But I went back and listened to it and decided to give it a shot. I hadn’t really spent a lot of time learning Major scale patterns, so what I ended up doing was treating the G major pentatonic as an E minor pentatonic(relative minor to G Major) and combined it with the G minor pentatonic. It eventually started to become easier to play both together and mix them up and I now feel like I made a giant leap in my guitar playing and I’m having so much fun with it. Thanks Lee! Great podcast. I’ve learned so much from it and am constantly inspired by your encouragement. Mark

black_macabreExcellent.Some of these guitar podcasts are hard to listen to. This one isn't. Good work, man.
-
ClembobbGreat for restarting after a long breakI played for 20+ years, got away from it for 15+ years, and recently decided to jump back in. It was humbling and slow-going at first, but Lee’s fretboard exercises were just what I needed to get those fingers moving again. It’s encouraging to see strength and speed returning. It’s funny, in some areas (fingering and chord transitions) I’m no where near where I was, but in other areas (expressiveness and dynamics) I think I’m better. Looking forward to continuing to improve. Lee’s teaching style is personable and encouraging. Just what I need. Thanks, Lee.
-
SDMike53Perfect timing!!I had started to get frustrated. I saw myself as a campfire type of acoustic guitar player with nothing to do with playing specific notes on the fretboard. I had to give in to my teacher and there is no looking back. I just know the basic Pentatonic, Dorian, etc. I did not love to practice until I started to form my own patterns. Correct me if I am wrong but when figured out that the root for the E Dorian, is on the 9th fret of the G string, I realized the millions of possibilities that makes each player their own
-
Nateyboy13Great podcast!I’m a brand new player and Lee does a great job of explaining things clearly for new players like me. So much great information, Thanks Lee!
-
lockdown199Great for beginnersI’m a beginner guitar player and really like this podcast, very informative for a beginner.
-
Jack from KyBest podcast online!Lee is far and away the best podcast host I’ve listened to. I subscribe to several podcasts to pursue my passions, and Lee’s are always well organized, thought provoking, and insightful. I learn something I can use every time I listen. I quickly tired of other podcasts that had a couple of guys blathering away the first half of the session, only to discuss something I couldn’t relate to. I’ve even recommended Lee to local guitar teachers to help them identify topics their students are eager to learn. Great sound quality too. Keep up the good work Lee, I look forward to mowing my lawn every Wednesday now while listening to your latest podcast.

richgraphicdesignsLove it!I’m a life long drummer deciding to start learning guitar at 48 years old. I had been playing for about 6 months and was feeling like I was in a rut until I discovered this podcast. I have a takeaway from every single episode. I am up to episode 34 and am excited about my drive every day to see what’s next. Keep up the great work Lee. Love the podcast and all the hard work you put into it.
-
Samspeaks29Love this PodcastSuch a great show! Each episode is like a guitar lesson and I appreciate how Lee breaks down concepts in an easy to understand way. I’ve played guitar on and off for about 20 years and stopped playing because I got frustrated with my progress. What I didn’t understand was that I was missing some fundamentals. This podcast is definitely filling in the gaps and inspiring me to play again. Thanks Lee!
-

SteveR_NYNew Listener, loving it...I stumbled into podcasts after getting a family Spotify account. Being a guitar player for 35 or so years, your podcast gave me something to focus on that I enjoyed. The methods you introduce are the same techniques I employ in my practice routines, but you give a voice to something a blunder through. I am only up to episode at, at this writing, but am hooked. I wish I could play along with my guitar, but I listen in my care to and from work. Not sure if you ever circle back, but one thing, in particular, kept playing through the tough times at the beginning. All beginners should start on an electric guitar (my opinion, don't yell). It is physically easier to play and allows the newbee to put some effect on the sound. It hides some of the mistake, but give you energy and inspiration to keep going. Too many of my friends started on acoustic and quit because it hurt. Even a cheap electric, setup properly, can be a great learning guitar. Anyway, thanks for the podcast, I am forever hooked.
-
Master of Reality.Great and informativeI like his tone and positivity and extremely helpful tips for beginners to novices and beyond
-
vintage_soundThis WorksThis podcast is helping answer all the questions I didn’t know how to ask. I’ve gone from being mainly an intermediate acoustic player to primarily blues in just a matter of weeks. It really clicked on the episode about mixing major and minor scales. Great podcast!
-
gville jeffJeff in gvilleAs an oldster guitar player, I completely enjoy Lee’s approach of mixing up all aspects of practicing and gigging. I get at least one or two nuggets from each episode that I can put to good use. Thx to Lee I can enjoy my commute and get stoked for my next guitar session. Five thumbs up.
