I’ve been catching up through the backlog and it’s consistently smart, funny, and excellent. Thanks dudes!

Don’t get me wrong, I have a family and many great friends in real life… but listening to Film Junk and settling into the hilarious, insightful, calmly paced (but occasionally manic) conversation between 3 friends you know share genuine affection—for each other and for movies—has become an important part of my “social life”. The sound drops are ingenious, their wit is effortless, the banter is infectious, and their honesty is honorable. With 16 years+ of history, this show has more lore and jargon than a fantasy epic, yet Jay, Frank and Sean feel as approachable as best buds on movie night. Simply put, it’s the greatest and most important ingredient in my entertainment diet, and I would never miss an episode.

    Great Junk
The best new release film podcast out there with a soundboard of clips that makes me lol. When Jay is on, you’re guaranteed a great episode. When Reed is on, you’ll be confused in a good way. For movie nerds, a must hear.

I don’t even watch movies anymore and still eagerly anticipate each and every episode. Love these guys.

I've been a listener for over ten years and wouldn't dare miss an episode.

    The best podcast?
Always an entertaining listen. I don’t even watch many movies, but love this podcast. Highest recommendation.
  • Elohino
    Frustrating
There’s a lot of useless banter and buffoonery in between the topics that have nothing to do with film especially in the beginning of each show. I’m officially unsubscribing 👎🏾

    Worst Ever
Tried this podcast but It’s basically churlish junior high boys reviewing movies so it’s not for me. Haven’t heard the phrase “almost made me vomit” used this often or really since puberty, so kudos for that. Hearing how one guy mock laughed to try to ruin other audience members enjoyment of the movie was enlightening. Either this is a farce or their mom’s called in a favor to get them a podcast and out of the family basement. Really not sure. So “mock laugh” because it almost made me vomit!

It’s perfect how did they do this and keep doing it so well?
I usually overstay my welcome with lengthy reviews but I have to say: this is simply the most enjoyable film podcast out there in finding the perfect mix of comedy, film obsession and smart intellectual conversation with three different hosts with very different approaches to analyzing a movie. New listener, but I believe I am now in it for the long hall!

    Three Funny Guys
I listen to this film-review podcast strictly for the interaction between Jay and Frank (Frank's laugh is infectious!). Poor Sean has to referee--this show is sublime. Even though they get into side arguments and raunchy comedy their intelligent insight into cinema and their honest opinions always shines through. Consider me one of their loyal fans...I never miss it.

Film Junk Is A Weekly Staple In My Life
I have listened to a lot of podcasts (I’ve been listening since 2008) and Film Junk is the only podcast that I have been listening to for over 10 years consistently.

    Film junk rocks
This is and has been my favorite film podcast for 10 plus years. They are not only knowledgeable of the craft of filmmaking but honest in their reviews and own up to mistakes they have made and if they misjudged a film for better or for worse they will own up to it. The banter and hilarious conversations add to the show and you can tell they are all friends and do love cinema.

    I’m hooked! Great movie pod!
These guys are so much fun to listen to. Really enjoy their back and forth, you can tell they are all close and have a great energy! Informative, light and I love how detailed they get into every movie they pick. I’m in!

The only movie podcast you need
Been listening to Film Junk since May 2012. I came for the films, and stayed for the laughs. It’s like listening to my friends talking about movies and banter. I could listen to a 2-hour episode of Jay talking about his customer service experiences.

Film love with no strings attached
A film podcast from people who love film. You don’t have to agree with them on even issue or film to feel welcome here. I’m so glad I found you guys!

    My Favorite Cast
Been listening since fall - started with their recent podcasts before going back to their podcasts from six years ago and these guys are so consistent. Consistently funny, insightful and entertaining. Their movie reviews are always great and they've become the only film critics I trust. Each podcast is pretty long, which at first was daunting, but I've come to love this about the cast. I can't get enough. Film Junk has fueled my passion for films. I love these guys.

    My all time favorite podcast!
I’ve been listening for almost 8 years now, putting me all the way back in my junior year of high school, and I still look forward to a new episode every week. What keeps me coming back is their banter, their carefree, fun attitude about reviewing films. They don’t take themselves too seriously when the subject matter doesn’t call for it. Their 3 distinct personalities are gold and in a weird way, it feels like I’ve gotten to know them as people. All around super fun, hilarious, interesting, and if you’re a fan of film, you’ll feel right a home.

I can’t take these guys! It could just be me
A few problems with this podcast: 1. Too much rambling. No consistent structure or timing from one episode to the next. I prefer podcasts that respect the time of their listeners a bit more. 2. No diversity. One of the biggest problems with movie reviews is that rarely are these reviewers anything but white men. I certainly appreciate the views of white men when it comes to movies but white men tend to look for the same things in movies and typically have no ability to view a movie from the perspective of a woman, a Latino, LBGTQ, a Black person etc. Considering this point, the movies that they decide to review typically fall within certain boundaries. Thus, from what I can see, these guys are only looking at a small slice of movies that are ever released. Personally, my movie tastes go far beyond most of the movies these guys choose to review. But then again, why would three white men care what movies a black man would want to see? 3. This could all be remedied by adding a few people of color and some women to these discussions. But, they certainly have the right to do the show they want to do. It’s easier for me to simply unsubscribe.

    My Favorite Podcast
I have been listening to Film Junk for close to 10 years and it is by far my favorite podcast. It is the only podcast I listen to every single second of, down to the closing seconds of closing music because you can never be sure if you’ll miss a funny retort or exchange. The only podcast that will make me laugh out loud. Completely irreverent but completely endearing too. I love these guys.

    Favorite Film Podcast
Started the show with the episode on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, I loved it and agreed with a majority of the opinions. You guys are hilarious and love hearing your opinions. The only thing I didn’t like was the segment of what you guys were watching in between the review and the spoilers. Love the segment just didn’t like the use of it as a break

    Best podcast period
I love the Film Junk podcast. It’s literally like listening to me and my friends talk about movies for 2 hours at a pop. They are funny while still giving insightful reviews. I learn about movies I never would have even given a thought before. They’ve really expanded my world and grown my love for movies. They have great regular guests as well. I love when Dax is on. They joke around about how listeners either love or hate when they have Reed on. Put me in the hate list. I still listen but I can’t stand when he is there. Other than Reed, the podcast is fantastic.

    Best movie podcast around
Insightful and genuinely funny podcast, been helping me fall asleep for the past 3 years. Fantastic website as well with all of the relevant news you could possibly want. Constant arguing about pronunciation by 3 guys with severe Canadian accents...10/10. The best!

Don't get the hateful comments, at all. Sean, Frank & Jay (and their guests) feel like real people with real opinions. And more importantly - they have great vibe between them, you feel like you're hanging out with them, while listening to a review, and little snippets of their lives. If you want dry list of facts about a film, this is not for you. Discussion sometimes go into weird directions, with hardcore disputes and wagers regarding the correct pronounciation of "Krampus", discussions on "horror vs comedy", etc, and it's awesome! The conversation is alive, it's not scripted, it's genuinely entertaining, and I can't count how many times those guys made me laugh out loud (sometimes putting me in awkward situations, like laughing in public). In fact, I don't really care anymore what movies they are discussing in the new episode, I'm just looking forward to hanging out with those guys for an hour or two. I've listened to a number of film podcasts, but only Filmjunk really struck a chord. Thanks for all the work and countless hours of entertainment, my Canadian dudes :)

    Love the podcast!!!!
Been listening for 2 years and it is my favorite cast I listen to. If you are a new listener give the cast more than 1 episode it takes time to get all the in jokes and personalities.

My all-time favorite for five years now
There is no other film review show like this one. The dry, sarcastic rapport these guys have together is infectious and extremely entertaining to me. The more you listen the better it gets. They also have an extremely deep reservoir of film knowledge to draw from. They’re not snobs, but they’ve definitely watched more movies than you have. A lot more. Five stars to the guys who inspired me to start a Blu-Ray collection years ago. #Reedforlife

THE best movie podcast out there.
Long format, honest discussions and hilarious banter. Jay, Sean and Franks are like your friends that you get to look in on every week. Been listening for years and it’s still fantastic.

Too many cooks in the kitchen
Unorganized structure. Everyone is cutting each other off and cracking up on inside jokes that completely derail the momentum. Really wanted to hear some constructive criticism but just got circuitous banter.

    The Best Around
I may be addicted to this show. When I was stuck in a slot canyon with a broken leg, waiting for Search & Rescue, I turned on Film Junk. It’s actually a little creepy, because I don’t really know them, but it’s like hanging out familiar friends. They talk like real people, holding nothing back without being obnoxious, and they consistently deliver a well-produced but no-frills show. They know their movies in a way that’s passionate but not academic, and their interplay is pitch perfect. I came for the in-depth movie discussions, but I stayed for Jay’s burps.
  • SirrSterl
    Dull
These guys all talk like Ben Stein. Its just incredibly boring. Even if they have something interesting to say their dull monotone deivery will put you to sleep before you can hear it

I have been listening since 2012. Never missed an episode since. Extremely entertaining, informative and funny. I would even recommend this for the casual movie watcher, or even someone who has never seen a movie.

    Longest Running Film Podcast
I've been listening since 2012, and It's my favorite podcast. I don't really know why. There no flair, no fluff take on things is nice, and it's consistent.

    Do they care about movies?
I’ve tried to listen to this podcast multiple times over the last few years, and it always sounds like these guys are reviewing movies as a chore they don’t want to do. They often don’t bother to read anything about the film or creators, can’t give any reason as to why they like or don’t like the movie, and often times don’t even understand what the movies are about (eg they think The Disaster Artist is a comedy and that Annihilation looks weird visually...). I’m sorry, I feel like I’ve given these guys a fair try and just can’t enjoy the podcast.
  • bobsponge42
Frank is a great addition to the show
Try doing something consistently for 10 years in a row. Now try to do it consistently with a group of friends. Now try to do it while navigating the tech and culture changes, and, dare I say it - the court of public opinion (aka CoPO). The Film Junk crew has done it and they've created something special in the process. While other shows are more polished, have more established "critics", bring on more famous guests, and generally take themselves far too seriously, the Film Junk crew does something better - they like hanging out and talking about movies. Sure, it may become "Content Junk" in the near future, but who can blame them? Content is cool. The cinema experience is dead. Long live the living room! Viva la iPhone! Or something like that. Sean, Jay, Frank, and their ocassional guests make each episode feel like you're hanging out with them for a couple hours. (Only we're like creepy neighbors who have installed surveillance equipment in the houses of each of the hosts.) This is the one podcast I can always count on to make me smile and laugh. Thank you guys for all the entertaining conversations over the years.

this is my favorite podcast by far. Not only do I listen to each episode as they are released, I also am listening to the extensive back log. I strongly recommend this to anyone who is even faintly interested in cinema. This podcast has madeMy love of film grow 1000 times over! I wish I had 4 thumbs so I could give this podcast 4 thumbs up!

There are others with interesting gimmicks or niches, but this is the one you can spend 3-4 hours listening to and be sad it's over. Comedy, tragedy, medical body horror. Film Junk has it all.
