    Excellent pod
I grew up with Siskel & Ebert and the subsequent variations of that show. It sparked my love of movies. This podcast is something I look forward to every week in the same way. The current format of right-to-the-reviews then banter at the end is perfect. Out of curiosity, why are there no sponsors? I only ask because I want you to succeed and make a living from the great work you do. Thanks!

    Thank you :)
I listen every Friday and use you’re reviews to decide what I’m seeing that weekend. Even though you’ve dissed some of my favorites 🥺 like talk to me and it follows. Still enjoy your reviews and your banter a ton! I forgot to add that you should cover “life list” on Netflix I know Brett has said he’s a sucker for the sappy stuff so curious to hear your opinions on it!

    Two Thumbs Up……..Way Up
Being a huge movie buff I’ve always been shocked how hard it is to find just a down and dirty movie review podcast. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to find this one. I really appreciate the depth of the reviews you both give, and you have really made me go out and find movies that would normally have been off my radar. It’s also very nostalgic since I’m from Chicago and grew up watching Siskel

A worthy successor to Siskel & ebert
As a longtime fan of “at the movies” I wish I had discovered the show earlier. I find myself refreshing the podcast app on fridays to get the latest episode . Thoughtful & entertaining, it’s made me reengage with the weekly releases that I haven’t done since pre pandemic. Keep up the great work guys ! Ps it’s ok not to cover nearly every new release- spare yourselves if you know it’s not for you

    Roger & Me
Your movie reviews are consistently in depth and accurate about their quality. Not a fan of horror, but when you explore the metaphors in them, I want to watch. Thank you! PS: you can’t say next week that you didn’t get a review this week!

    Very in depth- love it
I currently only listen to 2 movie review podcasts right now. This one, and NPR Film Week. This one is way more in depth and I like that there’s much more time discussing each one, than Film Week. The honesty put forth and opinions put forth is really refreshing. I don’t him much time these days to watch movies so if between both podcasts something is well reviewed then I earmark it, to try to watch sometime. Keep up the wonderful work!

Not thrilled with the music at the end
These guys are great but honestly I cannot stand the loud music at the end. It's sort of ruins the whole show for me. Don't get me wrong, I love music but just not at the end of a podcast like this.

    Guys on Film
I really enjoy this weekly round up of film reviews. A couple of notes… 1. While I am not a fan of Alien Ant Farm, that ending to the show has grown on me. I just don’t think you need to play a whole dang song. And I can’t stand Radiohead. So please tell me that the experiment with that tune is over. Yikes. 2. #TeamMark on the Captain America review. Sheesh. As a character on another franchise was want to say… Why so serious???? 3. I like the longer intros. I listen because I like you guys. Mark… how long have you been doing this? You frigging know he is going to ask you what’s going on. Try to prepare something pithy or at least something more than the untrue and lame “Not much.” It’s entertainment, man! Thank you for doing what you do.

    strong four out of four
Love Brett's other pod, The New Flesh, and I love this one as well. The chemistry between him and Mark is adorable and I admire their honesty, while also meeting the movies where they are. Also admire their genuine love of all kinds of films. Concrit time: when you guys disagree, Brett, I think it would be nice to let Mark have the last word sometimes. Back to the positives: I highly dislike the outro song but genuinely feel you should keep both warning us and torturing us with it forever. Though if you do want to change it up, I think Buckcherry's "For The Movies" is probably equivalent and might get equally reviled. Honestly, just do your thing, whatever keeps you from getting copyright claimed. In conclusion, great podcast, fills a needed niche, also I feel like one day you're going to ask Mark what's going on and he will secretly have been preventing the Earth from getting hit by an asteroid but he's required to say "not much".

Five Stars (and two thumbs up)
I really enjoyed this week’s episode. It was a great reminder of Roger and Gene’s more raucous tête-à-têtes where they really duked it out. I have no love for Marvel movies. And I have no interest in seeing this one but I could appreciate Mark’s reverence for it. It’s kind of like an Adam Sandler movie. Take Pixels as an example, it was universally panned from what I remember(Mark gave this a one star review- I looked in the archives) but if you had pre-teen kids, and at the time, my kids were 8 and 11, it’s that much more enjoyable. So I equate it to something like that. Still I have no interest in seeing any Marvel schlock. Anyway, I love what you guys are doing! Please don’t rate the movies prior to reviewing, that would be so anticlimactic. Oh and a little constructive feedback, try to match the audio levels a little better, it was difficult hearing some of Mark’s rebuttals during Brett’s more animated diatribes about why Captain America was such a bad film. Looking forward to checking out some of this week’s three star picks including Universal Languages. Thanks guys!!

    Good times.
Fun podcast with a good concept. It’s nice to listen to reviews without spoilers and with healthy disagreement between the reviewers. I hate to kick dirt on the intro and outro criticisms, but Alien Ant Farm for 5 mins at the end is a drag. Also, we don’t need to have the star rating system explained every week. Still, awesome thoughts and I look forward to the pod.
  • @endoftimetravel
    Great pod
I love that we get the rating at the end of each review. Why would I want the review before

Was looking for a At the Movies style of reviewing and found this
I don't know why it was so hard to find a simple Siskel & Ebert style of reviewing. Most popular podcasts are about old films or genre films (horror/action). I just want to know what's coming out and someone's opinion about it. I finally found this podcast. I enjoy the host's banter, so it looks like I won in the end.

    Great weekly movie guide
It’s awesome to have a podcast that gives you reviews on nearly everything that comes out week to week in theaters and major streaming releases. It often helps steer my decisions when picking entertainment for my wife and I.
  • Alex Rogo’s First Review
    Comprehensive
I love checking in with this podcast every week to see all the new movies for both streaming and in the theater. There is so much out there and it’s great to have a comprehensive resource in one spot that you can find all the new movies. In terms of the podcast, I enjoy listening to both opinions on each movie. I enjoy the banter back-and-forth and love it when they compare a current movie to other older movies and/or talk about old movies while reviewing a new movie. I also like checking Mark’s reviews on his website. I would offer two areas of constructive criticism. The first is the introduction. I appreciate that they pay homage to Siskel & Ebert, but I wish, at this point with having so many episodes, if it could be shortened up a little bit. The second is, I wish that they would say what they rate each movie at the start of their turn and then get into their review. Also, if they could explain what each star rating means. I think it would help in being able to follow their opinion a little bit better. But again, I do really enjoy the podcast. Thank you for doing it.

    True dedication
It’s a pretty thankless service these guys do, watching the great and terrible alike and doing their best to give every movie a fair shake. I truly love how it’s more of less industry- and gossip-free and just about movies. They’re pretty straightforward (not to say they aren’t personality-less!) but it’s welcomingly not troll-y or edge-lordy. Sometimes they give some crappy movies higher ratings than they deserve but it’s usually because they’re rooting for an underdog. It comes from a place of kindness rather than industry money, so I’m ok with it. And I despise the alien art farm song but thankfully they give you a chance to escape before it arrives. Great job guys!

    Like old times
Such a lovely listen! I watched Ebert and Roeper back in the day, now podcasts are my main entertainment source. I love hearing such great detailed reviews that don’t spoil. Came here from the New Flesh Podcast, great listen for those into the ‘horror lifestyle’
  • mmpnguyen
    Almost perfect
The best movie review podcast currently. Short and succinct opinions from people who love movies, covering every release from best to worst. There is a tendency for them to spoil important/exciting details that would take away from the overall experience of a film, but they do avoid major plot spoilers – if it is in a trailer they will discuss it. Some of this is not their fault, as some movies are simply meant to be seen blind and to talk about it in any way is already a spoiler. As someone who avoids trailers for movies I am personally interested in, I’ll watch blind and listen to their review afterwards. For other movies, many times their review helps me find new films I otherwise wouldn’t spend time to see. Listen carefully and understand that filmmaking can be a true art. How you engage with that art is up to you.

    My favorite movie review podcast
I eagerly await each new episode every week. I feel like I know these guys. Since I found this podcast, I’ve done some “back-listening” to their takes on movies I saw before I found them. I’ve had a bit of a history with Mark before I found this pod. When I set up my movie reviewing website, my first choice for a title was Mark Reviews Movies. I found it was already taken, so I went with something similar. So when I discovered this podcast, I was like “Oh! That’s the guy who ‘stole’ my website name!” A nit-pick that’s been on my mind for a little while: at the beginning of every episode, Brett says how they want it to be the only movie review destination you’ll ever need. That’s always come across as a bit arrogant. I review movies online, too, but I don’t need to be the only game in town. You’re welcome to look around, get some second and third opinions, etc. The buffet is open, and you can get more than one thing on your plate. That being said, they are one of my top priority choices, before I surf around for some point-counterpoint. Overall, though, this is an enjoyable informative podcast, and they get a strong 4/5 from me.

    FILMS
First heard Brett on another podcast years ago, he was doing some exceptional talking about Videodrome, smart, sharp, passionate stuff. Been with him ever since. Now In these dad days of summer where things are a little slower I like it just the same. His co host mark is a movie critic machine in a rah rah way. Love those guys and this pod and Brett’s other too: The NEW FLESH, actually funny smart horror stuff with another Cronehead
  • Sleightly Magic
    It works/It just doesn’t work
Take a drink every time you hear that, you’ll be a happy camper. Sometimes they are jaded on things when they find common tropes within films or there is another movie that has the same kinda story, they treat it like they shouldn’t exist. Thats the only real few negatives to this podcast and it’s not really negative reviews are subjective. Man I felt so validated when I heard their review for Maxxxine. They are conscience of not ruining too many surprises within films, have sound analyzing skills, fun to listen to. Really enjoy these guys in my ear at work.

    My new favorite movie podcast!
    Love these guys.

    👍👍
I love hearing about the movies. I wait to listen until after I’ve seen the main ones, but I appreciate that the reviewers are careful about spoilers. I’d like it if they’d sometimes comment on older films too.

    Love it
I just found this podcast and love it. I grew up watching Siskel and Ebert and this is a great tribute to or continuation of that format. The hosts are thoughtful and give enough time to each film they are reviewing. I’ve been catching up by listening to older episodes and there is a really good flow to each show. Plus, they are both very likable!. :) great job!

They watch movies so I don’t have to
40ish dad of three young children, which keeps me busy. My wife and I have total opposite tastes in movies (I like horror, she loves romcoms). So I rarely get to go to the movies these days. I vicariously watch through these guys, and they do a good job of screening out the duds, so I don’t squander those rare occasions when I get to go to the movies. I don’t agree with everything they say (nor do they always agree with one another), but they always try to give a good faith, objective analysis. They don’t shy away from the political aspects of the films they review and sometimes express their opinions passionately, but I don’t feel like they overdo it. Mostly, the discussion centers around the story and the success or failure of the filmmakers in telling it. As it should be.

    Must listen!
I save their reviews and listen after I’ve seen the movie — turn it on as I’m leaving the theater. Thoughtful and entertaining reviews.

    Great Show!!!!
I listened to the 2 big Christmas episodes while on vacation over the holiday & they were fantastic. I’m listening to the end of year episode next up.

    Wonderful movie podcast
I look forward to this podcast every week, not only for movies that are in the theaters, but movies that are streaming. Actually, I never see a movie without checking it out with Brett first. Keep it going guys, you’re doing a great job.

    4+ movies a week - thank you
I can’t believe no one else has re-used the Siskel & Ebert format until now. 4+ movies a week is fun to listen to and shows dedication. Also like S&E, they talk about movies that are big and small, foreign and domestic, with the same reverence. John Wick 4 and Monster in the same podcast - awesome.
  • stevethrewup
    They put in the work!
I took my wife's advise and followed Brett on Xcrement, which eventually led me to the podcast. Excellent show and format. They dive right in and get to their points quickly. I appreciate the time they take to also see movies most generally don't consider to watch or have even heard of. Great show, lads.
  • toomanyreviewrequests
    “Interminable”
I don’t know if he actually mispronounced this on the latest episode but Brett’s curious pronunciations in general have always made this and his other show really stand out to me. All joking aside I really both hosts takes and perspectives on movies and the industry more broadly.
  • brianooch
    Very good catch all!
With all the movie options out there it’s great to go to a show that catches a bunch at a time. I get many watch idea from these guys and even the low rated ones they give some redeeming qualities to. Great work guys. Give me how about some series ?? lol

    Best film review podcast IMO….
Maybe they just reflect my own tastes, but they bring a solid knowledge of the history of film, humor, and solid insights to their reviews. I enjoy this podcast very much.

My go-to for knowing what movies I’ve missed and should see
    I’ve been listening to Roger

Stop using the word "like" every 10 seconds....very annoying ....like very annoying and makes show a 2

    Adding to the rotation
Have been a fan of Brett’s other show for a long while now. Enjoying this one a lot after giving it a whirl. It’s good natured banter between the hosts and you can tell they both genuinely love movies. Even when something isn’t to their liking, they’re never over the top about the experience, they just deliver honest and valid critiques.

    Great Podcast
Just posting a review in appreciation for the pod, it’s always nice to run through ever new release. What is best about the podcast is that they try to talk about every film released, so there are usually a few films I haven’t heard of discussed. Thanks guys!
  • Kelly Fryar
    Elite.
    See above.
  • Phillipe23104
    Great!
I love the banter, and even when there is a disagreement Brett and Mark are enjoyable, normally others get heated and annoying. It’s a nice send up to Ebert. I would rather listen to them over literally every other review podcast except New Flesh and Brett is a host there so that explains it. I actually feel inclined to go on Twitter because I enjoy this podcast so much and have zero interest in anything else on Twitter. Definitely should give it a listen.

    The Ebert Legacy
While I personally passed the torch for “my favorite critic”, to the great Martin Thomas, after Ebert died, I recently found this great movie podcast and immediately loved how it’s not only a movie review podcast, but it focuses on everything that’s been released each week. As someone who watches nearly everything that’s released in local theaters, I love having a place to go, where even the small films, that barely get noticed, are discussed in depth.

    Love This Show
This is the best movie review podcast I’m subscribed to. The hosts cover all the major new releases every week (a feat in itself) and do a good job of avoiding cynicism. These guys really love movies and that’s what makes this podcast shine above the rest.
