NitedOwlGoes in CirclesThe host does not vet stories. Lot of speculation and very little substantive information. The case at the center of this podcast was interesting but it is drawn out as the host and guest go in circles about theories based on hearsay.

Drew0131Amazing storyAs a Gwinnett native, this hits home. A+++ story and my mind is blown about the county I called home for years. Thank you for shedding light on this

B202276508264So well done!!!I wish there were podcasts like this one!!!

RebeccalipsI’m stunned! My ex husband worked with Michael’s brother at GCSO in the 90’s and told me this story as well as having watched true crime shows about it. This story is incredibly told and definitely changed my mind about his guilt! And the view I’ve always held of Danny Porter have changed as well!

BrendapawWhy hasn’t Mike’s habeas motion had a hearing? What has happened to stall Mike Chapel’s habeas motion? It was supposed to get a hearing date in late 2023.
-
tcyankeeWhat now?I loved this podcast. From about halfway through the first episode it was absolutely, no questions asked, obviously a set up of some kind. It is clear no matter how you try to describe things that he was wrongfully convicted. It makes me so angry. No update since October 2023. What’s up? You don’t care to finish this? Even if there’s no update you should fill some time so we know you are still working on this. What now?

Burdie777Shame on you SeanIf only you were still fighting to free Mike. Money is truly the root of all evil.

Nikky KelleyFree Mike!I pray for a second season where he is out and grateful for the time he has remaining. It’s going to be hard not to be resentful for all the time stolen. I am praying for him and great podcast. Well told

Dee in IndianaPolice Officer WifeAs a police officer’s wife, I’m very interested in this case. Police officers should be held to a higher standard. This case blows my mind. Sean has done a remarkable job at laying out the case.
-
GAHuckDishonest ‘investigator’Sean seems to have forgotten to give credit where credit is due to the sources of his research and stories. Don’t be fooled. He has taken credit for work that was not his and is attempting to capitalize on the hard work of others. No credibility.
-
jtreegirlLOVE Sean Kipe!I have no idea how I just found Sean now when I’m a True Crime junkie! But he’s an amazing investigative reporter and musician. Honestly, I really hope this story continues. Plus who can’t love e Stoney!
-
Shimmy25Great podcast!I totally don’t know how he was convicted. So many things that would make him not guilty or that they couldn’t prove by a reasonable doubt. I think it was the drug ring which included higher ups thinking Chapel was on him. I am sorry how this ended up for him in jail for 29 years. So sad…
-
amvassarGreat podcast!Such a great podcast! Mike Chapel certainly needs another trial!
-
MaverickAbundanceExtremely Impressed! This is hands down the best Podcast I have ever listened to. Facts are the Facts. Great job! Michael is innocent and that is a FACT! I will say it. Michael was obviously set up. What a tragedy for Michael and his family.

Jbro0011A lot of unknowns todayVery well done podcast. After completion- my conclusion is he would not be convicted today- I’m not even sure a D.A. Would bring the case. This is not to say he did or didn’t do it - there are just too many unknowns. Again - great story and worth a listen.

Xbound24Interesting caseThe case was interesting, but it felt like the host didn’t really fact check a number of claims that people speaking to him made. Maybe he did but if so it wasn’t really in the podcast. My takeaway here is that almost no one in this podcast is a reliable narrator although it doesn’t seem like the case against Chapel is very sure. I would’ve also liked to have seen it explore a little less of the conspiracy idea of the prosecution and more of the momentum idea - often it seems like cases like this get a little momentum toward one suspect and then it becomes about finding all the corroborating evidence. It’s not really a conspiracy (which is hard to prove) as much as it is myopia. Unfounded conspiracy claims just make the podcast seem less grounded.

D AmbroseJust as good the second time.I gave 5 star rating, only because they wouldn’t let me give it 7.

GasHauler1163Set him freeAfter listening to this podcast I am convinced that Mr. Chapel is innocent. 2 many things that just don’t seem like they were handled properly. If a mistake is made you can look past it but this is mistake after mistake followed by cover ups, missing evidence, horrible defense team. The list goes on and on. Hopefully Mike will get his due justice. Sean, thank you so much for the work you do on your podcasts.

Edge SCOne of the best in the businessSean does an excellent job. Can’t wait for another pod cast. And yea he is innocent in my opinion

Joce3375Great!Love Sean’s investigative podcasts. Well done. I can’t say I’m completely sure what I believe but it was a really well done story.

any1saneFREE MIKE CHAPEL!After hearing this man’s story, you’ll want to shout it from a rooftop. This is a glimpse into the denigration of the fabric of our country; the small town being eroded by drugs and corruption. This one man’s misfortune is the epitome of GOOD VS EVIL. Expertly produced and delivered, this podcast will leave you outraged and hungry for a just ending for Michael Chapel.
-
xcountrycatA little hard to followA very interesting story and worthy of a podcast. I wish it had been presented in a way without so much speculation and interviews, which made it a bit difficult to follow and hard to believe.
-
Tired9A Must ListenI have listened to all of Sean’s previous podcasts and he’s done an amazing job once again!! Can’t wait for the next one 🤘🏾🤘🏾
-
19712020A must listen!Excellent podcast. I’ve never heard of this case & I was particularly intrigued now that I live in Georgia. I’m surprised at some of these highly trained and educated people and what they think. It’s compellingly obvious what happened here…and so sad that the right people aren’t going down. But they will one day…
-
CoolJackster19well toldSean crushed this story, did a great job of laying out the facts and telling the story. Sean had a great pace of voice, which made for a very enjoyable listen. Cant wait for what Sean will do next!

dcb131313Excellent True Crime PodcastThis is one of the best true crime podcasts I have ever listened through. Sean Kipe is one of, if not the best narrator/storyteller Imperative Entertainment employs. All of his podcasts are well put together, clear, easy to follow/understand, and above all, extremely respectful of the victims and subject matter. In the Land of Lies is very well put together and hits home seeing how I live very near Gwinnett county. Kipe does an excellent job keeping himself as unbiased as possible, and presenting the case as factually as possible. His storyline continually reminds you the tragedy that befell the original victim while also reminding you that the number of victims in this case is potentially much much larger than what you’d assume at first glance. If you enjoy true crime then this is worth a listen. If you live in Georgia, especially in northeast Georgia, then this should be required listening. I was born (admittedly after the crime was committed) and raised very near where this podcast takes place, yet had no clue the original victim had been murdered, and had never heard Michael Chapel’s name. This case deserves a massive amount of exposure, and Sean Kipe does an excellent job pushing this case back into public consciousness. Well done as always.

KD2ChiTragic and UnjustA wonderful man is wrongfully accused and hopefully will get a second chance at life with his family. The true criminals will hopefully see their day come - they know what they’ve done.
-
Georgia gal 🍑Great PodcastPrayers to the family. Such a tragic story & hoping this man can get justice.
-
Danny From PrescottGreat JobWhat an incredibly tragic story. You told it and reported on it masterfully. Well done man. I won’t forget Michael Chapel. Praying for him and his family.
-
Clint HamlinAnother Brilliant Pod from Sean KipeSean Kipe set the bar for investigative podcasting in his original success “In The Red Clay” masterpiece about the Dixie Mafia. His excellence continues in covering this insane story. Another top notch series Sean!
-
MEQ0108Best True Crime Podcast- EVERI have listened to almost every podcast pertaining to true crime as well as documentaries. My friends and I share suggestions. I pushed this to the top of the list. This is by far the best podcast I have heard. I am so invested in this good man who not only served our country but served his community’s innocence and freedom. Sean did a phenomenal job giving the facts while staying objective. Meanwhile probably truly risking his life to shed light on this incredibly corrupt department. I highly recommend!!! And then pls share with everyone.
-
TogicaAmazing podcast but it pisses me off. What a joke our judicial system is. Your podcast alone showed lie after lie from Danny Porter. In my opinion He’s the one who should be prosecuted. He might be the biggest liar I have ever heard. What a railroad job. Let’s just ignore that every fireman in that firehouse said he was there. All of them not just one.
-
Georgia peachy07Great podcastThis podcast is so eye opening to how unjust the justice system operates! This man needs a new trial with so many violations of his constitutional rights exposed. Great work…hope you have a follow up and hope it is good news for the Chapel family.
-
SidewinderCdubOh that yellow RoseThis podcast is from my hometown and punches me right in the gut. So much information to gather and so many that still need to be spoken to. This podcast HAS to have more than one season, this story is not over. So many parts in this story seem over the top, and even crazier to look this information up and see that it is true. “Every shovel full is a rabbit hole” is true as can be. I can only imagine the actual amount of constitutional violations that have been found thus far. Seems every violation leads to a new rabbit hole hiding something. Can’t wait til more news is released on this case.
-
Bevo227LoyalAnother great podcast so far. I like Mrs. Chapel, loyal wife and still defending his honor.
-
Erin1965He is innocentListen carefully. I didn’t do it!

Wolf TrainerInnocentFree Michael Chapel!
-
clucindamIn the land of liesWell done. I think he is innocent.
-
MCDunnamDefinitely makes you question everythingThis podcast uncovers the story of Michael Chapel in the murder of Ms Thompson. Compelling all the way to the very end. It will definitely leave you wondering how so a case with so many holes can result in a life sentence. How are we, in good conscience, letting this happen? Thanks for all your investigative hard work. Thank you for shining a light on this mishandling of Justice. 5 stars all the way.
-
TwinzzzMommaAbsolutely best podcasterSean Kipe has a way of getting into the lives of the story rather than just the story. People trust him - and they should, because any podcast he chooses to write is done with honor, integrity, and an unbiased narration. This story, however, is far from over. Thanks to Henry Ball’s involvement, there is literally an army growing daily whose mission is to free Mike Chapel, a wrongfully accused, framed, honest man. Sean hit it out of the park again!
