He commits & calls a spade a spade. Comments aren’t allowed on Curtis’s website or YouTube. Christians arent scholars- they believe translations & interps they WANT TO like Young Earth & the Rapture & ridiculous prophesy stuff because someone they like TOLD them.. & the latest- christian celebs trying to make a name for themselves and sell tickets so other Christians can SEE them Talk!

I have been feeling very alone lately with so much negative and often cruel rhetoric coming from the Christian community, but the hosts of this show have given me so much hope for the future. I am glad I am not alone in being guided by Matthew 22:38-40 to love God and love your neighbor, and I believe we are called to love even those neighbors who are different from us or from other countries and cultures. I pray for those who are consumed with negativity and judgement that their hearts will be moved toward love.

This is the only podcast I listen to that has anything to do with politics. Thoughts presented are well considered, intelligent, true to the Bible, and great to get our focus back on Jesus.

The latest episode was extremely encouraging and meaningful to me. Thank you for your authenticity, Curtis, Russell & David. You’re valuable to me, to this audience, to the kingdom!

Listened to your latest episode after the results of the election. Thank you for your encouragement in these times and for reminders that the shadow is only a passing thing; that Christ’s kingdom is not of this world.

This podcast has become a weekly ritual in my life that has been so encouraging. The November 2 Election Day podcast especially helped me understand why I felt surprised by such a feeling of sadness after early voting yesterday.

Thank you for your podcast. I am encouraged by the life giving way that topics are entered and discussed. I especially appreciate the most recent episode, and its consideration of “brokenness” vs “vulnerable.”

This podcast offers a concise and necessary perspective on the present spiritual tribulations all of us are facing, with a particular focus on critique of the American church. It is something that you will relate to if you have always had a frustrated curiosity about Christianity, that is to say that you want to be a part of it, but feel that you cannot because of the clear divide between the teachings of Christ and the reality of how Christians act today—that is not with the cross, but rather the sword. It may help you to understand the transformation happening inside churches in this moment, and would make a good companion to literature that has come about in recent years such as Kristen Du Mez’s Jesus and John Wayne, and Tim Alberta’s The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory. I absolutely recommend that you take a listen, it will certainly help your perspective on these troubling issues Christian-curious people face.

I am thankful for platforms and organizations that are addressing a crucial need in this era: a way to engage politics and culture without bowing to idols that would promise victory through ungodly means. Jesus didn’t gain the kingdoms of this world by bowing to Satan in the wilderness; he endured and went to the cross, and God highly exalted him. Continue your work with integrity and humility. ——— As a separate and practical note: the transition sound from content to ad can be startling. It sounds cool, but not when you’re changing lanes on the interstate, and you think you’re about to get into an accident. :) I am used to it now, I think. But I thought I should say something.

“We think stability is a privilege”—100%. Profound conversation. It is painful to accept that stability is neither the norm in human history, nor is it what our fellow voters want anymore.

I almost always appreciate the podcast but today’s episode was especially helpful to me during this year’s presidential election campaign season. I am grateful for the insights from both men and especially for Curtis’ transparency in sharing his honest feelings about the former president and how those feelings square with his life as a disciple of Jesus. I struggle to reconcile my genuine concern for our country if the former president were to be reelected with my desire to follow the teachings of Christ. This discussion gives recognition of our humanity as well as providing perspective and direction.

I’m into the 3 part of The Kingdom the Power and the Glory where it mentioned your Podcast so I listened for the first time today. Very impressed. My pastor is doing his best to keep politics out of our church and I hope a great many of my dear friends and church members are hearing him preach not to put your trust in a political party but in Jesus. Just more Christians that erase Palestinian humanity. Christian’s that support mass death and murder as justify it as legal so long as it’s the right people doing it. Why do so many Christian’s support such atrocities?

I’ve been listening to this show from the start and enjoy the thoughtful discussions. I preordered the After Party book and brought it to church to share with a friend — who surprised me to say he was leading a small group using the curriculum starting the next week. Thank you for being a blessing for those of us who may be cynics or combatants by pointing us to Jesus and how he can use us to make disciples.

Love every David and Nancy French featuring episode. As a Jesus respecting Jew, and a lover of many Christian friends, Curtis, would appreciate if you’d change your tag line to “For friends and followers of Jesus… and their friends.” Just heard youth sports taking over episode with David. Might I suggest everyone check out the story of the Jewish Maccabees who revolted against Greek culture which idolatrously worshipped beauty and the physical human body while desecrating the Holy Temple. Sports as the basis of a healthy human body and mind and (for those so inclined) relationship with G-d is wonderful. What is happening now with youth sports, however, is unwitting but full out idolatry. In fact, IMobviouslynotsoHO, so-called evangelical Christians today are forgetting Jesus’ fundamental teachings of the Beatitudes, with Love as a primary principle being really Christianity’s core differentiator. Trump is clearly an ersatz to perhaps even actual antichrist. Following him and his acolytes is being in an idol worshipping cult. As painful as such is, my dear actual Christ following brothers and sisters have to take Christianity back for all of us, please. Finally I note that trans in youth sports, which I am not for, but not against the right of ADULTS to live free so long as they don’t impinge on others, is the latest manipulators’ game to rile up the idolaters?

Very much enjoy what Curtis and David are striving to accomplish in this podcast. I have listened to episodes with wise and insightful thoughts for those trying to navigate this world as faithful Christians. Strangely, their conservatism makes it difficult for them to include progressive Christians (who may even be Democrats!) into their scope, as if one could not be seeking to follow Jesus with a progressive lens on feeding the hungry, helping the downtrodden, and a vision for God’s kingdom. This makes their podcast less helpful than it has the potential to be.

I am grateful to Curtis & David for their thoughtful conversations. I am no longer affiliated with any church due to the volatility in my church at the current time. I have turned my faith inward because I did not feel supported in my church through a lot of personal loss & difficulties in my life. Add to that the “red blue paradigm “ and I no longer felt welcome. You have both given me hope. Long story short (too late) I just want to say thank you!

As a conservative Christian go held my nose voting for trump and will likely abstain from voting in 2024, I’ve never felt less heard. It’s as if if you ever voted for trump you’re an idiot and don’t deserve to be heard. The lack of understanding for why people vote is astounding. I’ve got an economy degree and I won’t vote for a democrat bc of their inability to follow simple math and pandering to votes (ie more free stuff with the inability to pay it back) at least non trump representation from state and local do some efforts (or used to) to acknowledge the financial situation decades of democrat spending has lead to. Not everyone votes on cultur some educated people in finance sees a very dangerous writing on the wall and vote for sanity at the purse. How dare you all skim over people like me who care morally about our leaders but don’t feel that can’t be the only thing to consider (bc morality and politics has been gone for 50 years…or longer Biden is not a good man either). Abortion is a net evil. Transitioning kids is a net evil, Covid lockdowns were a net evil…like the only thing that is happening is two crazy candidates???? I feel completely left out of all political Christian circles, and this podcast was an insult

Curtis and David are thoughtful Christians who prioritize Jesus and Christlike conduct ahead of partisanship. I am so thankful for their thoughts on a wide range of topics, and their witness that not all Christians have bowed down to political interest above all else. I feel less alone when I listen.

Finally, there is a place to get that a Bibilcal perspective on issues without getting caught up in partisanship. I appreciate hearing the perspectives from different viewpoints. I also appreciate that it helps me be able to speak to others with Bible based comments and thoughts, and remove my own partisanship. I found this podcast recently (beginning of 2024) after reading The Kingdom, Power and Glory book by Tim Alberta. I am listening to both the current podcasts as well as starting back at the beginning. The topics from 2021 are still relevant and worth listening to! Thank you to Curtis and all for your vision and dedication to speaking truth. I am also starting the After Life study!

Curtis and guests run the gambit from conservative to liberal Christian. The weekly message is always timely to current events. It is *NOT* a sermon from the pulpit. It’s always a thoughtful, reasoned discussion of Christ centered analysis regardless of your world view. But if you listen you cannot help but be forced to think.

I am thankful for sane voices in this day and age. Thanks for doing this work

This podcast touches me in a number of ways. Curtis helps break down often complex topics/and or “simple” topics in a manner that gives a historical, personal, academic, intellectual, philosophical, theological background and exposition while also being digestible, tangible, accessible and often entertaining way. You won’t necessarily feel fullly satisfied with every topic but some issues as children of God, we need to wrestle with. Go ahead, listen to the latest or fish around and look through the past 100+ episodes and find one that looks interesting! I hope, like me, you will be touched in many ways

I am a regular listener and really like it most of the time. However, I am so disappointed in what was presented as a balanced view on the war in Gaza, but left out so much legitimate criticism of how it is being handled by Israel. If you want to present a balanced view, please get a Palestinian on the show, like Daniel Bannoura. Please don’t leave out quotes from Netanyahu stating that their goal is to limit humanitarian aid. Yes, I realise there is a “fog of war”, but I also know that Palestinian children are having limbs amputated without anaesthesia. I generally respect and often agree with David French, and have come to really respect Curtis Chang but this episode has made it hard to listen to any more. I have worked for almost a decade doing Humanitarian Aid work, and many years now providing support for others doing this work. I believe David’s evaluation is from a hard military viewpoint that ignores human life, and is giving great leniency to a regime that is very good at hiding behind hamas’s misbehaviour to cover its own. I just wonder what the prophets would say about the current Israeli regime. Please bring some balance back into the conversation.

Unlike many podcasts that engage politics, this one is hopeful, balanced and redemptive. It’s not a podcast I can easily share with my rural community because of the intellectual schema required to follow along (often but not always). The podcast helps me feel connected to other good, redemptive thinkers for culture and politics - so rare! And the vulnerability, appropriate to the conversation, keeps me feeling, “apart of the friends around the bonfire.” Thank you for the spirit in which you lead. Andy Crouch is my favorite guest!

I have been listening to this podcast for awhile, and it is the first one that has engaged me well enough that I would take the time to review. Curtis Chang (sometimes with David French as “founding friend”) brings guests who discuss critically important and timely topics. Typically, both sides (or all sides) of a topic are presented, with thoughtful and insightful discussion, and I often leave with a desire to dig a little deeper into the topic. I appreciate that links are often provided for follow up reading. This is a podcast that leaves me wanting more and waiting for the next episode to drop. Keep up the good work!

Listening to these guys redefine the Bible and Jesus to their own liking gets sickening. Every now and then they make a comment that matters. But they are their own echo chamber.

This podcast is thought provoking and relevant. I appreciate its exploration of both sides of difficult topics and pointing to Jesus for the ultimate answers.

I am happy to find this podcast I had no clue about until I started reading kingdom power and glory by Tim Alberta, I am not a religious person but I witness the religious people around me getting radicalized very scary, so glad to find you 🙏

The most recent podcast with David French was very encouraging and helpful to me personally. The current times can be discouraging and even frightening; I needed the encouragement and uplifting these men provided.

I started listening to this when it was hosted by The Dispatch, a center-right news publication where David French worked. Pairing a center-left person (Curtis Chang) with a center-right person (French) struck me as a Dispatch kind of thing to do, and I enjoyed listening to their interaction. After French left The Dispatch to write for The NY Times, I wondered if I would stick with this podcast. But I did. The production quality stayed the same (high level) and it continued to address some interesting topics from the perspective of the Christian faith.

There are three things that make this a go to for me. 1) the topics are relevant to the issues I face in my everyday life, 2) Curtis Chang the moderator has incredible insights that have many times helped me understand myself better, 3) the conversations are always respectful, intelligent, and well grounded in scripture. I love this podcast.

So you don’t believe in America first.

The irony about this episode has to do with how it discusses and occasionally condemns others’ interpretations of Revelations. And yet, the discussion vaguely orbited the text, avoiding any direct references to specific passages or any discussion about how it fits/connects/completes the larger biblical narrative. I would also appreciate it, as would others, if the guest and host would make good-faith efforts to steel-man positions they disagree with… it would be more edifying for everyone. Otherwise we’re stuck in a bit of an echo chamber.

This week’s podcast on suffering with Kurt Thompson was thought provoking. As a rabbit trail/sidebar, this issue of suffering and being left alone or forgotten applies also to those of us who have gone over the 7th decade and are facing the “end” even though we may be in good health. Perhaps a future episode on aging well through uncertainty would be worth considering. Thanks.
