sschesslerMagical LaughterI finally just started listening to this podcast from Tara, Pam, and Dave, and I haven't laughed this hard in years
-
BigcatwinnemacLove itAlways love the show, and enjoyed substitute hosts Megan and Kim! Look forward to Pam’s return though. PS Made me miss Kim’s the best thing I saw on tv this week and Little House recaps on EHG🥳

🌠🌈🌌🌄🌊🗻🌅🌋🗾KEVIN COOGAN 4-EVAI love Sassy but I love the banter between Tara, Pam and David even more.
-
andpopsOh Sassy!!I adore this podcast. I love the hosts. join the Listen to Sassy Club!!! It’s awesome!! I was an avid Sassy reader at 11 with the first (or maybe third) issue. This magazine definitely helped make me who I am today. It’s amazing to hear Tara, Pam, and Dave talk about each Sassy issue. It’s crazy how much I remember! I am so grateful for the chance to relive one of the best parts (if not the best) of my tween and teen years. Keep up the awesome job!! And thank you for doing this!!!❤️
-
nextrecordPure Joy!I studied every issue of Sassy more than any textbook and remember each page that Tara and Pam discuss! It thrills my heart to hear such earnest perceptive readings of these beloved tracts. Like being thrown back into high school with a set of dear new friends. Wonderful!
-
jec1981STARLOG JAM!IThis is my favorite new podcast, despite never having cracked the cover of Sassy. I’ve been following Dave, Tara, and Paimie in their various endeavors for 20 years and listening to this feels like being let in on their friendship AND taking a tour through late ‘80s nostalgia. A delight.
-
DelosHilariousMy favorite find of the year. It’s been great hearing them all reminisce and crack each other up.
-
spacekatnycSEVENTY STARS!!!Pam, Tara, and Dave are the friends I didn’t know I needed during these pandemic times. I didn’t read Sassy magazine, but I sure love listening to it! Kevin Coogan forever!
-
Renee CampHilarious! This Network Never Fails!Another fantastic podcast from my favorite crew! I cry laughing throughout each episode! Edited my review to note that David is OUT OF CONTROL in the show!
-
SimplyMichellePodcast for everyone- you don’t need to have read Sassy to love thisI’ll admit I procrastinated on trying this out “a podcast reading through a 1988+ teen magazine? How does that work?” I was silly to not try it earlier because it is the happiest, funniest podcast I’ve heard in a long time. Pam, Dave & Tara are fantastic. You don’t need to have ever read Sassy, into teen magazines or even have been a kid or in the 80’s/90’s to enjoy this. Just be human and like good podcasts & let them paint you the picture (though adding the visuals on their website or Instagram to the experience is a recommended bonus- but not required to enjoy this.) You can jump in at any point though I’m very happy I started at the beginning so I could follow along with Dave’s mini masterpiece theater of “Sassy Reader” 😂
-
beatchik72Great idea, Unfunny hostsI was so excited when I heard about this podcast. It’s a great premise, but the hosts are cringy - unfunny, annoying, and basically the opposite of what you thought the cool kid Sassy readers of the late 80’s would grow up to be.
-
RoadFullOfPromiseDennis is the worst……but this podcast is the best! A recap podcast (leave it to the professionals!) of a magazine seems like it shouldn’t work but it absolutely does, and this is so much fun. Great memories of Sassy (and many that make me feel like I’m talking about this with my cool older sister, who was the subscriber in our house back in the day), awesome episode notes and visual aids, and hosts who you want to hang out with - what could be better? LOVE IT.
-
Chj7Such a great hang out vibeI’m slightly too young for the early days of Sassy (I was 7 when it started and 15 when it ended) but it definitely influenced my young self and all of the teen culture I consumed. Listening to Pam, Tara, and Dave talk about this time period and go through the magazine is a real joy. It feels like I’m hanging out with cool older cousins.
-
BlakeNikolasGreat! As a listener whom was not around/old enough for this magazine, this is 100% entertaining. It’s very obvious how impactful this magazine was to a certain sect and it’s wonderful. Tara, Pam, and Dave are crazy in the best ways and love hearing their stories.
-
Megan Last name withheldCan a recap podcast of a magazine be great?Yes 🥰❤️💕found through Again With This, stayed for the great recapping skills and excellent podcasting of the gang! Also-the effort you put into your show notes does not go unnoticed-thank you!
-
RadishcakeDo not eat/drink while listening!!Seriously it’s dangerous because it’s coming out of your nose from laughing at some point so consume accordingly. This combo of hosts is perfect for me and I really enjoy their interactions! I was a little too old for Sassy I think? I was a Junior in HS when it began and it sounds like it I would have loved it! That said, this is THE BEST trip down nostalgia lane!! Thanks for this awesome content guys! Dave - my family is annoyed now because I’ve started ending things with STARLOG JAM! So please make that happen so they know what I’m talking about. Please & thank you.
-
emoladySassy 4-eva!So fun reliving my glory days with Tara, Pam, Dave and my fave teen mag, Sassy. Takes me back to a simpler time, which is always appreciated. Thanks guys!
-
megmeg_coLets be besties!I might have only been 3 years old when Sassy came out, but I would easily have been as obsessed with it as Pammy and Tara. Love listening the crew rehash late 80’s teen culture.
-
Dbacksgirl177So greatI was too young for Sassy, but it doesn’t matter, this is like a trip down memory lane. Also when Pam and Dave make each other crack up I can’t help laughing.
-
NnhlawLots of laughsFun trip down memory lane with funny people. Not gonna lie, fav moments are when Dave and Pam get into laughing fits and I imagine Tara sitting there exasperated.
-
kswa3718A New FaveFive stars alone for Tara’s Michael McDonald impression! But I could also listen to these three talk about pretty much anything (Tandoori Lady, anyone?).
-
Friend of the Pod-MAI’m as excited as Jessie Spano!Thank you for this podcast. I didn’t get into Sassy until 1992 when I was 12- my first issue was the Kurt and Courtney cover that I still have. But I am here for all of it. Sassy was such a part of my formative years. Also, MBTV got me through my first summer desk job. So I love you.
-
poppy713So Much FunI was not allowed to read Sassy as a young teen but I thought of it as the epitome of cool and would read it cover to cover at friend’s houses. I’m the same age as Tara and I love hearing all the nostalgia and I laugh along with the hosts and all their silliness. Kevin Coogan forever!
-
ELS-80211Don’t drive and listenThis podcast is the perfect distraction from... everything. Don’t listen and drive - I regularly laugh to the point of tears.
-
SuzakoThe perfect hilarious time machineI am slightly too young to have experienced Sassy in the day but I do remember the 90s and I also really appreciate a podcast that’s pure escapism. This is the podcast I needed and didn’t know it.
-
Siri LakshmiAbsolutely in love with this podcastI was born in 1976 and Sassy magazine entered my life when I was 12, inspiring me and opening up my otherwise provincial world. Sadly, I capitulated to my Stepmother’s demand that I throw all of my old issues out when I went to college. Oh how I regret that!!!! But now I can listen to Sassy and it’s like communing with my younger self while also virtually hanging out with hilarious people who loved this magazine as deeply as I did growing up. I savor every episode just like I used to read each month’s Sassy cover-to-cover as soon as it arrived at my house! My only complaint is that it’s nearly unbearable to wait a week between each episode—I could seriously listen to an episode every day and still want more ( and this isn’t just the pandemic talking). Thank you for creating this and for all of the laughter you incite (especially Dave!). Starlog Jam! Xoxo
-
Jsf539New LoveI shouldn’t love this podcast. I never read an issue of Sassy. I was slightly outside of the demographic for the magazine. But I’m enjoying listening to the hosts having a blast discussing the magazine. The fun they are having is infectious (in a good way). I’d been fans of David T. Cole & Tara Ariano since I first discovered TWoP. I’m convinced that I would enjoy a podcast of Tara (et al) reading a 1988 phone book. I was unfamiliar with Pamela Ribon, but now I want a life-sized poster of her to be my best friend.
-
susanandmarkwGen X Time MachineThis podcast is a time machine for Gen Xers, and even as an existing fan of the podcasters’ other shows, was surprised how much fun this is. It’s like being back in junior high, without the homework.
-
dhdbdjdbfjdndjddsdgLaughed out loud!Since Dave got no love in some reviews this five stars is specifically for the image he put in my head of a mounty rubbing baking soda on his horses gums to see if it was cocaine and I swear to god I nearly peed my pants driving home 🤣. Great podcast you guys! 😊
-
SSWG17When you need to laugh out loudI have never touched or seen an issue of sassy magazine, I’m just a bit too young for it. Does that matter? No! This podcast has me literally lol’ing multiple times a segment. If you love ‘80s and ‘90s this podcast is a riot!
-
Man-Da-JoyThe critiques of the ads aloneYou guys: I didn’t know that I was missing a guided trip down memory lane via Sassy magazine should magazine be capitalized?). Tara and Pamela espouse over the fashion, the dopey Q&A sections, and fill me with eureka moments with of nostalgia like remembering the sneaky asides on Sassy’s spine, and why did they insist on making bloomers happen? Plus the occasional celebrity interview/dip. It doesn’t discount the magazine’s approach to a less Seventeen -y periodical for young people. I’m close to the age(s) of the hosts, and it’s like I’m dissecting the magazine with my funniest friends I sit by in AP English.
-
WhatwouldstelladoLove this podcastHi! Kari from Colorado, love your podcast! Called your Sassy hotline and y’all played my message, to my 13 year old self chagrin. Just wanted to drop y’all a line and say thanks again for the laughs. And PS... Dave, I replaced the battery on the fire alarm at my workplace. Haha!
-
Cookie enthusiast 🍪Space Log Jam: Star Date 1988Sassy was the much-needed antidote to the other magazines I was reading as a teenager, and this fun, hilarious, and very thorough podcast is my much-needed antidote to the monotony of doing the dishes. It makes me feel like I’m at a grown up slumber party where I can drink and curse without someone’s mom yelling at us. When the world forgets about Gen X, Pam, Tara, and Dave are here...to remind us...of the mess Sassy left when it went away. Seriously, so happy this podcast exists! Love, a Sassy girl writing from her husband’s account

eaweaver1sSo much fun!Extra Hot Great is my desert island podcast, so more content from Tara and Dave (two humans that I wish I actually knew in real life) is very exciting. I was devastated when EHG ended their first run, but life has somehow rewarded us with such EHG family riches since then, and they just keep introducing us to more of their extra hot cool circle of friends. So do yourself a favor and listen to this! And don’t forget to check out the visual aids!
-
Mark CSkiFunny and nostalgicI loved Sassy as a teenager and Hissyfit/Fametracker/Television Without Pity in my 20s, so of course I adore Listen to Sassy. It’s so much fun to look back on Sassy—formative media for so many of us—and celebrate what’s still great about it while acknowledging what doesn’t hold up. Tara, Pam, and David are the perfect tour guides for a trip back to the late ‘80s/early ‘90s.
-
KMW99Delightful new podcastI loved Sassy as a tween and teen, and it’s so interesting to revisit it as an adult in 2021. The hosts are hilarious and have great chemistry. I already love Tara and Dave from Extra Hot Great, and now I love Pam, too. This has quickly become one of my first choice listens when a new episode appears. If you were a Sassy reader, you should absolutely give this a try.
-
SdpfeiffyFive starsI am (not so) slightly older than the Sassy demographic, so I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this when the pod was announced. But, Tara + Pam almost always = amusement so I gave it a try. I did not know about the secret sauce: David T. Cole participating! This has turned into my weekly de-stress listen.
-
The Crab ThingAddictive!Tara, Pam, and Dave are having so much fun, and the Sassy era is such a perfectly specific niche; it’s impossible not to feel wrapped up in the vibe.
-
Liz-BSeriously, so funny.I’m a fan of Tara, Pam and Dave from the TWOP days and happily consume any and all media they send my way. (See also Extra Hot Great, Again With This, The Great American Pop Culture Game Show). This podcast is HILARIOUS - it is truly laugh out loud funny. It’s a cliche to say that a podcast is like hanging out with friends, but that’s exactly what this is. Ostensibly Tara and Pam are walking us through the glory days of Sassy magazine (a formative element of my preteen/teen years), and that alone would be worth the listen... But Pam and Dave set each other off constantly with off kilter humor while Tara tries to keep it together- it’s just the best. Thank you for putting this gem out into the world!
-
ecasonSDSo wonderful!I’ve been a devoted EHG and Again With This listener for years, but this new podcast truly hits me where I live. Such a blast of joy and nostalgia! Thank you!
-
VoxaA blessing unto the wasteland of 2021This podcast is so funny that I almost can’t function while listening to it. My spouse caught me crawling up the stairs, doubled over with laughter, and thought I was having a cardiac event. If you remember & enjoyed Sassy, as I do, this is a must listen — and honestly, you’ll probably like it even if you weren’t ever a Sassy devotee.
-
Cleggie32Makes me laugh so much!I found my way into the former Previously.tv world a few years ago. This is such a fun addition. Every episode makes me laugh a ton. I also love listening to people crack up(the Dorf mini being an all time classic), and this podcast provides. Thanks for adding another bright spot in my week.
-
copperboomerA delight!I stole my sisters Sassy magazines and they warped my little 8 year old mind. I have no regrets except that my mother threw them all out claiming spring cleaning. This podcast is as nostalgic as it is hilarious. Pam, Tara and Dave are the warped friends everyone aspires to have, and hopes to be.
-
Jovial GentCome for the sass stay for the dinkerThis is an amazing podcast. Full of love, humor, and honesty. It is a window into a time you often seen in pop culture now, but from a perspective that is unique. Not knowing anything about Sassy before this podcast, it is letting me into a pop culture world I didn’t know about and how Tara and Pamela let you in and show you the joy and experience of reading this crucial teen magazine.
-
Lemon-JennyGen X Dreams Come TrueAs an OG Squishite, I was so so excited to hear that Pamie was doing a podcast. Little did I know my wildest dreams would come true and it would be THIS podcast! It’s such a delight to hear the three of you reliving the troubling but nostalgic times of the late 80s. I am so excited to listen to every episode and relive every issue with you.

BetsyBooTooSassy made me the Dr. Ruth of my middle school!I can’t express how much joy I have gotten from the first few episodes of “Listen to Sassy”—Tara, Pam, and Dave make me HOWL with laughter (and cringe with retroactive embarrassment for my younger self!) I was born and raised in a tiny, VERY conservative town in central Louisiana and always felt a little out of sync with my peers. My Mom was great, but was always really squeamish about discussing sex and body issues and she got me subscriptions to Seventeen, YM, and TEEN magazines to supplement my education about puberty, sex, dating, etc. and pass on the pertinent information to my two younger sisters. I enjoyed reading them, but I didn’t start to receive a proper education until I started getting Sassy in 7th grade. There were other girls out there like me!! Despite my being a late-blooming virgin who didn’t get my period until high school, I gained enough knowledge from reading Sassy that my classmates started coming to me with questions re: pads v. tampons, French-kissing, blue balls, Keith/Kevin Coogan (jk) and I was able to give them good information. I adored all those magazines, but Sassy was the one that felt most personal to me. I have several podcasts that I listen to regularly, but “Listen to Sassy” has become my absolute favorite and I will continue to enthusiastically recommend it! If I may, I want to give a shout out to my 15 year-old daughter Sunny, who is currently battling (and beating) Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and my sisters Jaime and Carrie. The fact that we emerged from our Bible Belt upbringing as outspoken feminist liberals is largely due to our early exposure to Sassy. Love y’all, Betsy P.S.: “Regina”😈 P.P.S.: “Glemby” 😘

Your Pal, ErinIt’s MST3K for 80’s pubertyI ❤️ living vicariously through my new BFFs —Tara, Pam and Dave— as they deep-dive, issue by issue, into the most awesomely bad teenage rights of passage, as informed by their own lives and the pages of Sassy magazine*. Their slightly snarky, whip-smart repartee says everything I was already thinking about the 80’s and puberty (but stated so much better!) or things so freakin’ funny I wish I’d thought of them myself. Xoxo, Listen to Sassy Podcast! You complete me. Your pal, Erin *or in Dave’s case, Starlog.

EileenmarathonAnother ‘cast to keep in my rotationI wanted to wait until I heard all the episodes related to the first issue of Sassy before I reviewed, and am ready to present my 5 stars. I’m just a hair too old for the 1988 Sassy demo (In ‘88 I was 22 and reading Glamour but certainly not living it). As I teen I wasn’t allowed to read this type of magazine, but I would have loved it. But after several podcasts now I’ll listen to anything Tara and Dave do - they could read the Canadian phonebook and I’d listen (and I think they have). Pam on her first podcast is the delightful additional spice (the Bunternative if you will) and I’ve never had so much fun listening to a 33-year-old magazine. That’s more of a compliment than this sounds - it’s hilarious, nostalgic, and better than my actual past.
-
NattyBat81Love it!Funny, nostalgic and a great listen for relaxing at the end of the day. Wonderful job, Pam, Tara (and Dave.)
