Most actual new episodes are really good, but true spies has gotten to where they recycle a lot of old episodes rather than putting out new content. In addition, much of their information is very left leaning biased and twists history.

Some of the loveliest, silkiest voices. Excellent diction and a real pleasure to listen to; not distracting in any way.

Amazing podcast that puts historical events into new context. Thought-provoking and well-told stories.

I enjoy this show, have been with it since the very beginning with Hayley Atwell. Listening every week was a true pandemic lockdown comfort for me. I know ads are a necessary evil part of the podcasting experience, but really? A political ad? This isn’t TV, it’s not live radio, why would you risk pissing off half your audience with a negative campaign ad? To say nothing of it becoming dated and irrelevant past November. Do better SpyScape, pay attention to what ads you include, because that is inexcusable and if I hear another one you’ve lost a listener for good.

I enjoy this podcast, and pay for ad free episodes and more. I’m disappointed in the frequent (and retitled) repeat episodes. You all need to do better or I’m going to cancel.

Is there disinformation in the disinformation episode? Thought it was proven prior to release of this episode that the 50 something agents were untruthful about the existence of a laptop prior to the 2020 election? Just found this podcast and had really been enjoying the ‘True Spy’ stories from WWII etc. This episode seemed to have a very left leaning agenda. Disappointed…

Listened to the disinformation episode. It actively pushes, and whitewashes, Western disinformation under the guise of reporting on Russian disinformation, the significance of which it over-inflates. Not interested in listening to more.

I used to enjoy this show, but recently it has declined. They often use the term ‘allegedly’ on some episodes when discussing negative aspects related to Democrats, even when there’s clear evidence to the contrary. I wish they would focus on factual information rather than subtly injecting their own political biases.

She lies about Jan 6 and what Trump said and what was done afterwards. If you like hearing lies it’s a great show to listen too

This was one of my favorite podcasts, but I’ve now unfollowed and removed all episodes from my library after the “disinformation” episode. I’m all for different viewpoints and encourage healthy debate in conversation, but the entire episode was very clearly an attack on Trump and served no purpose other than to continue to divide, the very thing it starts out claiming Russia did to the US. Typically, when this show has someone on that has a controversial opinion, they let them state that opinion themselves or say something along the lines of “according to (guest)”. They didn’t do that in this episode. They presented everything she said as fact, when some of it does not appear to have been true. It was very clear on this episode that the host, guest, and possibly production are focused on continuing the divisiveness that the country has faced recently by only discussing what they believe the Trump campaign has done without ever even mentioning the disinformation and harmful statements that have been proven to have occurred by the Biden and Clinton administrations. Its actual purpose was the division of half of its viewership from the show.

The “disinformation” episode was the last straw. Completely dishonest accounting of the Hunter Biden “debunked” laptop story, not calling out Hillary Clinton planting false stories on Trump, but claiming Trump is super evil, etc. Wish they stuck to what worked (spy stories). Now, I’m unfollowing as I’m not supporting this.

I’ve been listening for 3 years and it’s fantastic.

I usually enjoy this podcast a lot but this week’s episode had all the elements of the woke agenda so I stopped listening. It’s a boring topic by now so I’m disappointed you couldn’t do better, like you normally do. Hopefully next week you’ll return to your normal story style.

Really great content and guests. The writing is good, I think the stories and explanations are done well. My gripe is with the hypothetical questions asked to the listener, which are jarring. I’m already thinking about what I would do, I don’t need to be asked directly, it completely disrupts the show. Same with the sarcastic comments sprinkled throughout. It’s unnecessary and takes away from the guest.

I love anything on these subjects and this is a good one please keep it up

I love this show and it’s content is well researched.

Oof. For every fun episode, there appears to be 5 Mossad propaganda episodes.

It is so odd to make a show like this, then have, what appears to be, only one source for the info. This one source, who speaks often, is frequently provably inaccurate and seems to present his assumptions, in many cases, as common opinions or even facts. It is sad, because the horrors the CIA forced upon the world, and still does, needs to be available to the public. This show attempts to tell how awful the CIA is, yet goes about it in a childish, sloppy and somewhat arrogant way. It is all just a waste of time.

The channel offers a mix of the good and the bad. Many of the autobiographical stories and explorations are fascinating. Some of the historical retellings tend to be more varied. As an example, relying on a conspiracy theorist like David Talbot to weigh in on the early history of the Cold War seems like a pretty poor choice. 0 stars for the Old Man and the CIA.

I love this podcast and these stories, many of which I’m familiar with or had at least heard of, but getting a complete telling of them really pulls the curtain back. Not sure why so many people are leaving negative reviews claiming political bias. The CIA has done something’s that, with today’s lens, are almost unbelievable, illegal and everything else, but those in power at the time, for better or worse, we’re doing what they thought they needed to do, what they believed best for can interests. It’s history, it happened. Settle down, nobody’s coming for your guns.

There seem to be a lot of negative reviews on the podcast and I think that comes from the misconception that the guests are without their own bias. These stories are really interesting and should be used as a starting point to look into a topic further especially on a political or polarizing topic. And in case it’s not in every episode they do have a disclaimer… Disclaimer: The views expressed in this podcast are those of the subject. These stories are told from their perspective, and their authenticity should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

The negative reviews seem to forget that these are the stories of the guests not the podcast, and their stories are for your individual consideration, not necessarily fact or the opinion of those who run this podcast. The stories are informative and the people who are so bothered by different opinions by experts and first hand accounts need to get out of their echo chamber.

When you say that the Guatemalan president was headed toward Marxism, but later in the episode, whine about the way that president’s efforts toward bringing democracy to his country were upset….we’ll, which is it? Was he a Marxist, or did he want democracy? Those two things are not interchangeable. At least the narrator was honest enough to admit the president was all about wealth redistribution. Only took a couple more episodes to be fed up with the bias — shameful, when claiming historical accuracy.

The stories are good, the “style” is too over the top.

This is one of my go to podcasts. Well produced with excellent storytelling. For those complaining about subscriptions. You want something for nothing? Do you go to work for free? The professionals work hard to produce this product. If you don’t want to pay then don’t subscribe. As for those complaining about “left leaning” stories, seems if anyone tries hard enough they can find a leftist hiding under every tree. Put your biases away and enjoy the product. If you can’t do that then produce a podcast that reflects your opinion.

Each episode (especially undercover cop) is such an overdramatized tale. If an undercover feels the need to turn their “mission” into a fantasy episode then perhaps in the wrong business. It’s embarrassing listening to some of these. People wanting to create heros out of themselves. So unoriginal

Love this podcast. So interesting to hear these real stories! But I question many of the sound effects used. Why, oh why, is there a rainbird-style lawn sprinkler going off in nearly every episode??

Great podcast if you can get past the exclusively western-centric POV of these stories . Would love to hear some episodes from the “Bad Guy’s” perspective. There are tons of big league foreign agencies with great stories that have been seemingly ignored.

I mostly enjoyed it until I started getting whiffs of political bias. Comparing Trump to Slobodan Milosevic ruined it for me. If it were something similar aimed at a D president I know you wouldn’t have aired it. In that statement he’s doing exactly what he’s accusing Trump of and you’re participating.

There are some good topics, but if your politics are not left leaning, a bias will harm the story. Comparing Trump to Milosevic was the final straw.

CIA agent = traitor

Not willing to pay for a subscription. It was only a matter of time before commercialisation of podcasts spoiled the product. It’s sad as I really enjoyed True Spies but I feel like I’m being nicked and dimes to death with these individual podcast subscriptions.

Great podcast but now it’s a subscription only, so will have to say goodbye.
