CyraAkilaSuperbClear, engaging, and fun. Even for law professors who have read these texts, this is a great podcast.

MC football fanA great listen for anyone who wants to build a theory of the law!I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast and am so grateful to Professor Shapiro for making it. Not everyone gets to go to Yale Law, and for night-school lawyers like myself, the philosophy-of-law course offerings were few. Many lawyers like me end up participating in judicial decision-making without having done much thinking about our theory of what “law” really is, and this jurisprudence course shows how helpful that thinking can be in understanding our role. On top of that, Professor Shapiro’s delivery is extremely clear, he makes the content very accessible even if you know nothing else about legal philosophy (I didn’t)—and he’s funny! I’m writing this after listening to Episode 15, before further episodes have been posted (the course appears to be on hiatus), and I am eagerly awaiting the resumption! Thanks Professor Shapiro!

Prairie DropseedIncredibly gifted teacherThis is one of the best things I’ve listened to in a long time. I’m not a lawyer by any means but work in a field (urban planning) where I work with the law every day. Until getting started on this podcast, I never realized how little attention I paid to the nature the law itself. As esoteric as that seems there is a ton to unpack there. It takes a great teacher has to awaken your attention to something so fundamental that you’ve spent years looking right past. It’s an incredible gift that Scott has given us to record and distribute for free.

southern fpdVoice is like a benzodiazepine for your earsFor an elite school lawprawf, this jurisprude philosopher is so humble (and funny) it is beyond endearing. This podcast is definitely a top-5 gem to get you through this pandemic, and it is accessible to listeners even without a legal background. Cannot wait for him to try a more technical course, like on constitutional or administrative law, however tricky that might seem to bring to. (Or maybe AEDPA — and opt in 🥰— on its 25th anniversary as the draconian law from the 90s rearing it’s ugly head and wholly immune to the wave of criminal justice reform).

SJ WhitneyTime Well SpentExcellent podcast. Can't recommend highly enough. I only hope that it does not lead to lighter tweeting as Scott is easily one of the best follows on Twitter.
