    Critical Reviews
I mostly love each movie this pod covers and the banter between the hosts is great. They’re really funny! But I feel like this podcast just criticizes every movie and points out everything that’s “wrong” with the film or the actors that play the characters. I love horror and I love movie recaps, but I feel as though the hosts’ coverage is largely so negative. I want to share my love of horror, there’s enough negativity out there already. Maybe this podcast just isn’t for me, and that’s okay.

    Great Horror Film Podcast
Updated review- this podcast has definitely become my favorite horror movie show and I eagerly await Mondays for new episode drops. I love the length of the episodes and the details provided since I listen to shows while I’m walking my dogs, doing household chores, etc. The hosts all have different viewpoints and opinions on the movies covered, yet I somehow generally agree with all three. ‘Can’t miss’ show for any fans of horror.

When listen to a movie podcasts I wanna feel like I’m watching the movie thru my earbuds and this is it! I love how in depth you cover the movies and you guys crack me up along the way!

    Six minutes and eight seconds
Discovered this pod and thought I’d give it a try. Selected a film I love as my barometer for if I’ll enjoy these hosts. I made it 6:08 into Friday the 13th: Part III and immediately was done with this podcast. If I’m dedicating that much time to listening to a podcast, the hosts need to have enthusiasm for the genre. I guess these kids love jump scares and whatever pretentious things A24 produced this week. The dismissive nature shown in that opening was enough to let me know I couldn’t do 3+ hours with these people. More power to anyone who can. Dud.

    Expanding my horizons
I’ve always HATED horror movies since I was a kid. However, these three hardworking hosts have ignited an appreciation for the genre in me. Every movie is truly a miracle and my favorite podcast helps me see how the sausage gets made. Their hard work shows in each episode and I feel truly fortunate to have this piece of media in my life. Thanks you!

    man I love horror
As a person who has loved horror since forever, e.g. when my sister and her bestie rented paranormal activity via the red box in 2010 and I being 5 years younger butted in as my sister duty and felt exhilarated by the scare of Katie running at the camera. My love started there and has never stopped, and podcasts like this keep me engaged in fun banter while it shields me from the real life horrors of our world. Would I take a possessed Californian over my retail job? Maybe. Would I ever give up POD Mortem? Never!!!!🩷

    Favorite Horror Podcast
This podcast is hilarious and insightful. The hosts balance a conversational tone with a thorough analysis. I joined the party late but I’ve been hooked since my first listen. Pod Mortem rules.

    One of my favorites
I found Pod Mortem around Halloween and have had it on nonstop since (work from home, and also sleep with headphones on). I’m almost caught up on all the episodes and I’ve even started listening to them again. I appreciate the fun recaps and the great researched facts. I’ve learned a lot about my favorite films over numerous laughs outbursts. You are all amazing, thank you 💙

    Podcast art
Your cover giving tribute to the creep show art is great. I would not be surprised if it was by the original artist. The art drew me into the show. But I bet I wasn’t the only one! Podcast is great as well.. Give them a credit! ( if you haven't already)

    The Premier Horror Podcast
Over the past few months, I've started and stopped writing this review several times, but I feel it's finally time to share my thoughts. "Pod Mortem" is my absolute favorite podcast, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any horror or film fan, or to anyone interested in exploring the genre. I discovered it through a recommendation from "Girl That’s Scary" during their episode on "The Conjuring," and I've been hooked ever since. I religiously listen to every episode on launch day, preparing in advance by watching or rewatching the featured film. Their 2021 episode on "Gremlins" was the first new one I heard, and it played a significant role in introducing horror films to my young teen, who was initially very apprehensive and frightened by scary movies. Now, my entire family listens to the show together, which has become a fantastic way for us to think critically about films and bond as a family. Renee, John Paul, and Travis are incredible hosts; their passion for film and their work shines through in every episode thanks to the meticulous research and preparation they put into each one. We are proud "Patreon Supporters" and huge fans of their additional content, such as "Creepy and No Sleep," where they retell and discuss horror stories and creepy pastas, "Talk Mortem," a monthly show for questions and games, and "PM TV." I truly love this show, and it has helped me through some challenging times. The phenomenal community they have built around it is nothing short of amazing.

how have I missed this treasure of a pod!?
I have no idea how I stumbled across this podcast, but I am so thankful. It has become a staple podcast in my favorites and I adore the camaraderie these three hosts share. They are so witty, funny and down to earth, which makes you feel like you’re a part of the conversation the entire podcast!
  • Fix please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great podcast with one glaring annoyance
I absolutely adore this podcast. The hosts are amazing and have a great ability to break down any horror movie and make it hilarious. My one complaint - it drives me absolutely nuts when the husband/brother in law says “I seen” or “we seen”. You’re on a podcast, please speak correctly. Other than that, this podcast is perfection!

    Favorite Podcast
I cannot recommend this podcast enough. I am a lifelong horror lover and am always looking for good podcasts in the genre (surprisingly hard to find). Since stumbling upon this podcast a few months ago, I have spent hundreds of hours with Renee, John Paul, and Travis. This is the only podcast I’ve ever found that is so fun and enjoyable that I find myself listening to the same episodes over and over again (see especially The Strangers and The Autopsy of Jane Doe ❤️). This has been a very hard year for me but this podcasts and the hosts have buoyed my heart and spirit and made my life better. I just wish they all lived next door and could be my best friends. ❤️❤️❤️

Come for the horror, stay for the wonderful hosts
I stumbled upon the pod this year, and my only regret is that I didn’t discover Pod Mortem earlier. Going back and listening to the entire catalog of episodes was delightful. This is the only play-by-play, in-depth pod I listen to, as I wasn’t sure that format was for me. However, the attention to detail has made me appreciate films even more (or further dislike a few of them, haha). However, what is most special is the wonderful family dynamic of the hosts. Their appreciation and respect for each other shines brightly. We all need more of that pure and authentic love in this insane world. Thank you for bringing joy to our ears each week!

An Interesting take on horror films from Gen Z.
For the most part, I enjoy this podcast and the camaraderie between the host is cool. However, they tend to miss key details about the movies they review as they just go off Wikipedia, DVD commentaries and/or the latest book/article and they also don’t really look into previous works of the filmmakers, unless it’s a movie they like. (Ex: Not knowing Karyn Kusama directed other films besides “Jennifer’s Body” and “The Invitation”).

    Love the podcast but….
    What DOES JP like?

    The laughs
This has ruined other horror movie podcasts for me bc it’s just so GOOD. Even when I disagree with their read of a particular thing, I barely even care because it’s done in an intelligent and hilarious way. It reminds me of sitting at a table with my brothers, and we all laughed out loud at something, and some random voice from the crowd goes “OMG there’s three of them.” And that was one of my favorite nights ever. This podcast is like that.

    Awesomeness
Heck of a show, y’all keep me entertained while at work. Love the chemistry between Renee and her brother!!

Love you guys. Just wanted to mention it!

    Impeccable
It’s like watching the movies without watching the movies! Renee’s laughter is contagious! Whenever I have a thought it’s the next thing they say! It doesn’t hurt that I share all of the opinions that I’ve heard them express so far, but even if I didn’t agree with their critiques, they’re gentle and humorous with their personal thoughts and leave room for nuanced and balanced takes on the subject matter….such a great concept for a show with execution that’s just as good. For me, it’s a must listen for anyone who loves horror and also loves simply having fun (for me).
  • Charliipresley
    Mostly Good
Really enjoy most of these episodes. Especially earlier ones. Lately I’m finding a lot of the Renee episodes are hard to get through. It’s like she’s just printed off the Closed Captioning script and is reading it verbatim. She just drones on and on and on giving the listener ever little detail. Examples are the Jurassic Park episode and the Shutter Island episode (brutal). Best parts of every episode are when the 3 just naturally chat about a scene, etc. also like the intro because it sounds like “co-host, brother and husband” is all one person. Which always catches me off guard. Btw: I love the “you got it, Boss.” Cracks me up every time.
  • Ripley1012
    Perfection
I don’t typically re listen to podcasts, but these three are irresistible. The laughter, jokes and unconditional love for horror movies and each other never fails to bring a smile to my face 😊

    Death Becomes Her
This podcast is amazing!! As a fellow Death Becomes Her fan, I really enjoyed your podcast episode on that iconic film and can’t wait to listen to your Scream, Halloween and other episodes! I recently listened to a different podcast on Death Becomes Her and they trashed the movie! Completely missed the humor and point of it and even criticized the acting?!? You guys totally got it and I enjoyed reliving the film with you. I would recommend you all doing “Batman Returns” - the most horror-esque of all of the Batman films and another personal favorite!
  • knifkcin
    Biggest fan 🤷
I laugh, I am intrigued, it’s my favorite. Again, when I get paid I’m gonna get the patreon (I said it on Twitter once) but bravo. Best podcast.

    A Great Hangout Podcast
Three hosts with a lifetime of chemistry, plenty of excellent research, and a lot of thoughtful commentary with its heart in the right place. They take a few episodes to settle in, so if you start from the very beginning you’ll want to be patient, but also if you start from the very beginning you’ll have a wonderful journey ahead of you.

A paradox: hate horror movies, love this pod
JP, Renee and Travis hold my hand as I peek through my fingers at THE BIRDS or FRIDAY THE 13TH or THE SHINING — and gosh I love them for it. Hilarious and insightful commentary on a genre I love to hate 💕☠️
  • angrylf
    Great, hilarious show
I love the deep deep dives which manage to stay funny and fun and never monotonous - the commentary is hilarious but also insightful - the chemistry between the hosts is fantastic. The Jaws episode had me laughing out loud a bunch of times - I can’t think of any way to improve what they’ve got going here. I wish they hated Rob Zombie movies as much as I do but there’s no accounting for taste. 10 out of 10!
  • B_Rye_252013
    Fun, Horror Movie Podcast
I'll be honest - Wasn't feeling at it first, but the more I lisented - the more it grew on me. The episodes are typically pretty lengthy, good for long commutes, or just someone that enjoys listening to longer podcasts. Great for horror movie fans. Although at times I do feel the siblings try a little too hard to be funny and Renee's laughing can be a lot, they seem like genuinely good people, who love the genre, and do their research. The hosts have great chemistry. Highly recommended!

    Everything’s Pizza
I love this podcast! It feels like I’m geeking out with my friends about horror movies. I love the breakdown of each movie scene by scene and the production facts along the way. It’s my absolute favorite podcast and I look forward to Mondays for new episodes.

    Great podcast!
Love all three hosts! Funny and in depth!

    Awesome spooky podcast
This is hands down my favorite horror movie podcast! The trio of the brother, sister, and sister’s husband is one of my favorite parts. They’re hilarious and it reminds me of talking about horror movies with my sister (with the added bonus of if my husband actually liked horror movies too). Not only are they funny but they also speak so eloquently and thoughtfully about movies I love. Can’t recommend this podcast enough!!!
  • Bradwife
    Highly recommend!!
If you love horror then this podcast is for you. The hosts are related but there’s no banter in the beginning, which is awesome. I’m not a fan of hosts having personal discussions for ten minutes before getting to it so this is perfect! I’ve skipped a few bc I haven’t seen the movie yet but everything I’ve listened to I’ve enjoyed. They also usually have some insider info, from the original script or dvd commentary, that they add which is nice. My new favorite podcast!

Funny and in-depth horror movie reviews
I found this podcast from a recommendation from the Ghosts in the Burbs podcast, and I’m so glad I did! The hosts are a brother and sister and the sister’s husband, and they discuss and review horror movies. The hosts are all obviously close friends and are also hilarious - I end up laughing out loud every episode. They do a ton of research on the movies and discuss behind-the-scenes details as well as what various cast and crew have said about it.
  • Nrwy1988
I feel like I’m making jokes with these folks!
I got this recommendation from Ghosts In The Burbs, and as always, she was right on! This podcast is funny, thorough like nothing before and really makes the time fly! I’m so glad I was turned onto it!
  • Basic Kitsch
    Some decorum, please!
I found this podcast through a recommendation from Ghosts in the Burbs, and I couldn’t be more delighted! The hosts are so funny, and they have a great rapport.

    Great Show except the weeezey…
I love the length, format, and topic of your show but man o man - Renee, when you laugh it sounds like someone squeezing a toy rubber chicken! Once you hear it, you can’t unhear it LOL
  • Ripvanwinklesfaster
    Awesome
This is exactly what I want in a horror review podcast. Very detailed breakdown of the movie with smart and funny commentary, plus just enough side movie factoids without being too “know it all”.

    Great friendly vibe

Take my money, be my friend
This is my favorite podcast of all time. I subscribe to alllll the horror review podcasts and this one is the best researched and the hosts offer the freshest insights - not to mention they are HILARIOUS. This is also the only podcast where I never regret my Patreon membership - even without the extras, I just want to pay for the happiness these three give me - you deserve everything and more! Also, I feel like we are best friends? The only negative I can find is that they are cat and not dog people :(

    Slowly enjoying
I periodically listen and haven’t really completely enjoyed the podcast but I don’t hate it. There seems to be a lot of inside jokes that shared by the hosts because they are related. However, the Talk to Me episode I did thoroughly enjoy. Maybe I’m slowly coming onboard or maybe it was a good episode? I’ll still listen sometimes but only time will tell if the episode was a fluke. **These are only my opinions. I listen to horror movie podcasts regularly and am an avid horror movie fan. I enjoy the in-depth breakdowns that are provided.
  • From a fan.
    Love love love
Love the pod. Always looking for in-depth analysis and you guys are the very best at it. Also, your laughters are contagious!

    I Love This Podcast
Where have they been all this time I’ve been listening to mediocre podcasts?? Or rather where have I been and how could I have missed this amazing show? I love the chemistry between the three hosts and the fact that they do a thorough walkthrough of each movie and not just a general overview is perfect. Also did I mention they’re hilarious? 10/10

    FRIGGIN FANTASTIC
I just learnt about this show and I AM IN LOVE! This show has reminded me why I love horror so much. I can’t say enough good things about it, honestly. I’m not sure where to submit suggestions, but I have two: Night of the Demons (1988) and Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight.

    Hilarious and Informative
I can’t believe I haven’t written a review before now. Pod Mortem is my absolute go-to podcast for when I’m feeling down, and it is the best part of every Monday. Not only are the hosts hilarious, but they also know what they’re talking about. I love a long podcast episode, and these are always long and in-depth. I appreciate the time and effort that Travis, Renee, and JP put into this, and I wish massive success for them. I’m a Patreon member as well, and their Patreon feed is beyond amazing. I hope that they continue to build on their well-deserved success!
