    Breast Density
First time listening to in-depth explanation of breast density. Learned so much! I strive to stay informed & wonder how many women know what was covered in this episode. I appreciate Abdul’s summaries from time to time. Helps to clarify.

Would benefit at times from input from a practicing medical doctor
The discussion around public health on this show is great, which is the true expertise of the hosts. However, at times, when they veer into discussing the nuance of medicine and medical practice, Dr. El Sayed’s lack of clinical experience makes him not a credible commentator on the experience of doctors. This is fine, but I would try to invite practicing doctors on to fill this gap and account for what can at times be a clear bias due to a shallow depth of knowledge that having only medical school clinical experiences brings.

A public health dentist’s reality respite
I’ve listened to Abdul for about a year now and his convos on healthcare are ones I wish more dentists had. I share these episodes with colleagues at my health center and with friends and will rely on it heavily during the next presidential term. Thank you, Abdul for your impactful work!

So happy that YLE is joining you!
I’ve been listening to your podcast on and off over the last many years and I’ve always been impressed. Adding another epidemiologist to the show is a great idea as she does amazing work in trying to educate the public. I am heartbroken by the results of the election being a healthcare worker myself and staying informed and hopeful is what I know you will impart to us. Thank you!

    Insightful
I get a lot of my science and medical news from this show. Dr. El-Sayed lays things out in an easy to understand manner, but not one that patronizes the listener. His interviews are good, as is his analysis of the issues.

Recommended Listening for All! — Eloquent, Incisive, & Compassionate
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and his guests are some of the most astute and morally consistent voices at the intersections of science, medicine, public health, politics, and society. “America Dissected” takes the metaphorical scalpel to plethoras of fundamental social, policy, and infrastructural assumptions in the US and beyond. In an age of climate destruction, resurgent eugenics, and accelerating genocides, I especially appreciate their unwavering commitment to human health and dignity in every corner of the world.

Varied topics but timely and informative
I am not in the healthcare field or public service, but I always learn something about being a healthy human and responsible citizen when I listen to the podcast. Thanks for keeping me informed and entertained!

S4 E6 Mental Health in America
Powerful interview about the challenges we face around treatment of mental illness along with recommendations that can be implemented now. I was struck by the intersection of mental illness and those individuals who are unhoused. Our systems can do better with intentional action. Onward!

    Perspective
I LOVE this show because the topics are super relevant and interesting. I think my favorite thing about this show is that it is open about perspective and always yields to science and fact rather than repeating ignorant clickbait. It’s refreshing to find an independent podcast with the production quality of one under a corporate umbrella. I just can’t say enough good things, everyone should listen to this and educate yourself. Thank you! 😊🥰

Health is for everyone, and everything is related to health
I really appreciate this podcast and it’s information. So many connections to health and public health that you wouldn’t necessarily put together are discussed in this podcast. it is a must lesson!

    Thoughtful and engaging
One of my favorite podcasts. Intelligent, educated and scientifically sound discussions on medicine and public health. Dr. El-Sayed has a gift for helping lay people to understand the issues, the history and the barriers to better health for all.

Crooked should do more work like this
Shame on Crooked, outside of this one episode. Your coverage has been egregious. Politics are comprehensive; everything is connected. Lead us.
  • Mollz223
    Thank You
Thank you for speaking up in support of Palestinians in no uncertain terms. To put it lightly, I’ve been disappointed in the rest of Crooked Media’s response to the war. Your viewpoint is sorely needed, and I appreciate you for sharing it.

    Awesome show
Funny, informative and fascinating. Always a great time - keep it up!

Love this show - great listen
Abdul is such a great voice in this space. He is relatable and knowledgeable. He really tries to get his audience to be able to understand things at a basic level and this is so important! It also says something that many guests end conversations with ‘I really enjoyed having this discussion with you today’. Shows that he is asking the right thought provoking questions no matter the topic. If you want to be more informed on a variety of topics that affect our country and health I highly recommend!

This is a fantastic show! Abdul is a great host and conveys the science based realities of our current situation with passion and also a calming effect. This is such an important podcast to have in the feed! Thank you to everyone who makes this show possible!
  • Less podcast or more guest
    Too much about you
Your have great guests and the discussions are interesting. However, you spend too much time talking about yourself or your experiences. Some is helpful but especially in the episode with Dr. Jordan Metzl you used up too much time telling the listeners about your own sports experiences. I would have liked to hear more from Dr. Metzl who advocates for movement of any kind and how he counsels his patients who want to move but need more support.

    Informative Podcast
Excellent podcast. As a retired public health nurse, I appreciate how Doctor El-Sayed brings core public health principles to these most important podcast topics. Keep up great work. Science matters. We need your expertise and perspectives.👏🏾.

    Compassionate Transgender Healthcare
As both a pediatrician who has provided age appropriate medically necessary healthcare to transgender youth for the past 15 yrs and the mother of a now adult transgender son, I so appreciated this episode. Dr Kellan Baker did a wonderful job explaining gender affirming care with compassion and humanity.

    Susan and Menopause
I was told to drink less coffee to manage my perimenopause symptoms. The doctor completely ignored the fact that I didn’t start drinking coffee regularly (a few days a week) until well after my symptoms presented, which was well after my hysterectomy. I was told hormone replacement had “debatable outcomes” due to my age (40s). Basically I’m not old enough for treatment, so behavioral therapy is my only option to manage my symptoms. I haven’t seen an GYN since. Why bother?

    Susan and menopause
This was perfect timing for me! I’m going through some degraded quality of life due to perimenopause, and have a Dr appointment later this month. I feel informed and empowered to have a conversation with my doctor about treatment options. Thank you so much.

    Public health updates
I listen to this podcast every week to keep informed about the public health landscape. I’m a local church pastor, so this may not seem like a professional necessity, but it is. The social determinants of health also are the social determinants of emotional and spiritual health. My congregation cares about ALL of our neighbors, so we want to know what supports or gets in the way of their wellbeing.

    Public health medicine + politics
Love the medical aspect of the show. Dr El-Sayed covers a lot of excellent topics related to public health relating that to individuals and systems. He takes a hard look at several issues and is not afraid to call out villains. He really gives me food for thought and offers other resources for reading. The only drawback is that he is a little strong on pushing politics. I don’t think he’s wrong, but it makes it hard to share the excellent content with my more conservatively minded friends. Great show, keep it up!
