Dee7345Too much religious propagandaWe’re a no-screens household with a big backyard and a free-range mentality to outdoor play. I thought I’d love this podcast, and I can deal with the “God talk” occasionally (i.e., “God created such a beautiful playground for our children, go use it!”). But all the commercials are not just religious but closeminded religious or misleading. Ask your insurance collective how they treat babies with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Spoiler, they don’t cover it. My kiddo had HLHS and racked up 2 million dollars of medical bills keeping them alive. Our friend whose baby has HLHS had a religious insurance collective and was repeatedly reassured that congenital heart defects were covered… until she went into labor, in which case they said “whoops, but not HLHS”. Go on, ask your insurance what medical issues aren’t covered, and then go ahead and pray that your God doesn’t blight your family with those health issues. And for Ginny to talk about a no-screens lifestyle, only to shill a Christian media app for kids… ok, so screen time is okay if it’s religious propaganda?

Mom of a bunch of ragmuffinsTop Parenting Podcast. A must for all! Each episode just gets better and better. A stable in our home to listen to. I have read such fabulous books thanks to your quests and recommendations! Thanks for all your hard work!

AppleUser676534677Evangelical Podcast in DisguiseThis isn’t a nature podcast, this is an evangelical christian podcast masquerading as a nature podcast for families. Full of misinformation and hypocrisy as is typical with evangelicals. AVOID.
-
Wild tribe of boysGreat job Ginny!!By far my favorite podcast! So encouraging and incredibly helpful in finding amazing resources for parenting and just living life in general.
-
Jules7997EndearingGinny is so well read and applies everything she learns from the books and guests she engages. She is so endearing and all the guests love to talk with her and I love to listen! I go away feeling like I’ve hung out with a mom friend and learned a ton in the process.

rhotcjkiBecoming too religious & politicalI have been listening to 1000 hours since the beginning and used to consider it my primary inspiration in parenting. I have listened to every episode but I feel like I’m no longer welcome here. The content has become increasingly political and religious in a way that feels alienating to me and your loyal democrat &/or secular audience. Giving kids unstructured outdoor play & having a full childhood should not be a partisan or religious topic. I’m also passionate about getting kids off screens and outside, so I’m disappointed that you are limiting the reach of that powerful message by featuring evangelical ads and politically-motivated conversations. I wish you & the podcast the best and hope that you will return to the core message that can transform all families.

Jbirdy97A voice in my life I desperately neededGinny is one of my favorite people and I don’t even know her. I glean wisdom from her even when she is interviewing someone else for their wisdom. She is compassionate, kind, and always so open about her life, struggles, the reality of motherhood, and finding balance when it feels like it’s impossible to choose the “right” thing. As a mom of four littles I am so thankful for voices like Ginny’s. There is guidance in the form of information displayed in a compassionate way. You can tell she really cares about her message, and she compels me to look at things a different way when I’m stuck in a rut. Oh, and my kids and I get outside more than ever too!

Abigail.94Must listen for momsEvery episode is uplifting and encouraging. Ginny has such a talent and i love all her guests!

K.M.A.C_19DisappointedI used to love this podcast and following Ginny. Unfortunately after learning about their unkindness and berating of multiple churches in the area I will no longer be able to listen and share. It's unfortunate that they have chosen to treat others this way. I really thought this podcast and these people were different.

Mparker0924Long-Time ListenerAfter listening to this podcast for a few years now, I can confidently say it just keeps getting better. Ginny’s ability to ask insightful, well-researched questions and truly listen makes every episode feel meaningful and engaging. She is incredibly well-read, and it shows in the depth of the conversations she has with her guests. What keeps me coming back is the perfect blend of topics—raising children, getting outside, and embracing a more intentional, connected life. Every episode offers wisdom, practical tips, and a refreshing perspective that leaves me inspired and motivated to create more meaningful moments with my family. If you’re a parent looking for thoughtful conversations on raising kids and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle, this is the podcast for you. After years of listening, I can say without a doubt—this is one of the best out there. Five stars!

MomofSevenKCommunity is everythingI just heard your podcast about what happened at your church. I am sickened by the story.I am so sorry you lost your community. However, I want you to know that you have a huge community of supporters out here listening to you, and for what it is worth, I would love to be in community with you, and for my children to meet yours. Too bad we are in Colorado! I will be praying for you.

Kellijean82Episode 424Just finished listening to the episode with Caley Jones. As a rural MN girl I can totally relate to “walking the beans.” I also walked sugar beets. Didn’t de tassel corn but I do know what that is. Brought back so many good memories of being outside with my friends, getting dirty, and making money

JSMASHAKGinny is greatGinny, you feel like an instant friend. I love your heart and the conversations you have. Thanks for taking the time to create this for us!

Jess9420I didn’t know a podcast could save meI’ve been listening to Ginny’s podcasts for about a few months now. I can’t believe the difference in my life and specifically motherhood. It so reassuring to hear the perspective of Ginny and her guests on life and parenting. Just when I thought I was the only one that parented and thought the way I did, I found this podcast. Not only does it reassure that my parenting style and thought process is not “old fashioned”, but I learn something new from each episode. The way Ginny has taught me how to slow down and enjoy my life and daughter is something I am forever grateful for. Anyone struggling with motherhood or just the fast pace, hustle of life, needs to listen to this podcast. After 5 minutes of one episode I was hooked and just purchased her book “until the street lights come on.” Cannot wait to get it in my hands. Seriously… thank you Ginny, if you see this.
-
YahhbeanI can’t describe in words how great this is.This podcast helped me feel a little less alone as a new mom is a scary world. Thank you for this.
-
GolfProWifeFinds the Beat SpeakersThe authors and subjects Ginny finds are the best. I have purchased several of the books discussed in the podcast and they have been well-worth it. Ginny has a way of interviewing that is so intriguing and fun to listen to, and her questions are well-thought out. Very inspiring parenting podcast!

Bcarrillo345Love this podcast!I am so in love with everything this podcast has to offer. I get so excited anytime I see a new episode has been posted. As a young mom with a toddler and newborn this podcast has given me so much insight into parenting. Ginny is not afraid to stand up for what is right, even when that means getting push back. I will continue to recommend this podcast to all of my mom and teacher friends! Thank you Ginny for your hard work and dedication

Lb84Always gets me out of a funk!I get something out of each episode but sometimes I’m especially unmotivated and that seems to be the day Ginny has a guest that seems to be speaking right to me ♥️

NebraskaJoAmazing InsightMy daughter got me started on listening to Ginny and I’m so glad she did. Ginny has thought provoking guest. She is so well read and articulate. She amazes me! I love her guests and so support her ideology on children and life. Keep doing what you’re doing Ginny!

SweetcarolynnnnnOne of my favoriteCome here for the outside time discussion and leave with so much more. I’m amazed by all the books Ginny read and knowledge she acquires. Her quest for knowledge and enthusiasm for life reminds me of a young child, in the best way. It’s like she’s never lost her spark into adulthood. Spending time outside will do that for you!
-
KS transferInspiring & Life ChangingJenny is so inspiring. Her positive energy is palpable. She is always so well read and asks exceptional questions of authors that bring so much knowledge and thought provoking ideas. She has inspired our family to spend more time outside, enjoying the immeasurable benefits of nature. I am so grateful I stumbled upon her podcast.

Cecegirl222Thought provoking and encouragingMy new favorite. My husband and I love listening to this together, which I thoroughly enjoy. It inspires a lot of conversation and we come out inspired and encouraged. Thank you Ginny. Just you being yourself is so lovely-you bring a lot of joy, kindness and I appreciate your vulnerability. You have a gift! Both in reading and articulating. and I really love how you honor your guests and pull treasure out of them. Thank you for doing this! I know it’s a sacrifice of time and effort. A.Rosie.LoveCaution re: what you hear about food. This used to be my favorite podcast, and for years I told everyone I knew about it. Unfortunately, I noticed in March of 2024 that Ginny began having speakers on that spread misinformation about food and nutrition. As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a Masters degree in nutrition and a Certified Lactation Counselor, I kindly reached out to Ginny to empathize with her food fears and share some truth with her, along with links to factual information. I didn’t expect a response, and didn’t get one. After that, more and more of her speakers were fear-mongering over food. The information being presented by many of these speakers was not true, and is dangerous to vulnerable populations such as those with eating disorders, those living with low income, those with cancer, and more. (I have worked with all of these populations). Once again I reached out, convinced that Ginny would correct the misinformation that her platform was spreading. I also began commenting on posts that shared incorrect information, kindly providing truths and references to reputable accounts when it comes to food and nutrition topics. Would you believe that Ginny BLOCKED me on instagram? I was shocked- I still am. I thought she would be the type of person who was open to learning truths, and revising her statements upon learning that she had been sharing falsehoods and fear on her platform. Boy, was I wrong. I loved this podcast when it was focused on what it sounds like: the benefits of getting kids outside. But it turned far away from its original message.

Find Infertility BenefitsFeed My SoulI can't like or recommend this more. Ginny is the most natural and funny speaker who always remembers to tie in the details. I'm a mom of 4 under 6 (at one time they were 4 and under) and this is the podcast I choose to listen to on my walks. I would love a book club subscription so I don't have to spend extra time hunting down each guest's books, as well as the books they talk about in the shows. Does this already exist?? After only 2 years of listening, I'm still continually shocked to realize other people just DON'T KNOW.

Tori FreemanThe best podcast out there!I’ve been listening to Ginny’s podcast for years and am ashamed I haven’t come to leave a review yet. Listen, this is hands down THE best podcast out there! Ginny is an incredible, engaging and thoughtful host and always has the best questions. You can tell every one of her interviews is grounded in her passions. The variety of topics she covers on this show is so impressive, but I’d say the strand that runs through every episode is living well. I know I’m not the only one to say that Ginny’s 1000HO movement and show has changed my life and impacted my family for the better. Thank you Ginny for all the work you do!!
-
JTJIWChanged our lives! This podcast has changed our lives. Ginny is phenomenal and her message of getting outside, being with your kids, thriving in home school, etc has been a game changer! I never would have considered that I could home school, but learning from Ginny and her guests has given us the confidence to pursue it.
-
MegLyMcRamA podcast with an extraordinary impactI am beyond grateful to Ginny for the work she does in this world. From the 1000 Hours Outside movement and its support/encouragement to get outside more, to her book, to this podcast, where the diverse array of guests bring knowledge and information into my mind that I would never have otherwise found, she has benefited the life of my family in uncountable ways. In the podcast, she’s an engaging interviewer who knows her stuff (and guests comment on this frequently). Listening to other podcasts with dry, robotic hosts after listening to this is a laughable experience. Thank you Ginny, so much of the changes and progress in my life and my family’s life have been thanks to your guests and the information you bring into my life.
-
AmykhereGreat showI don't 100% agree with everything on this podcast, but that's why I'm here! There's always something to learn and I appreciate listening to thought provoking perspectives. Thanks Ginny! Keep asking the questions!

Maggiesue43Ginny was made for this!Ginny is so skilled in directing a conversation and pulling out the very best in the people she interviews. This podcast has been a lifeline for me throughout my motherhood journey. I feel like Ginny is a dear friend because of how much her words have impacted my day to day life. Best podcaster out there! Keep it up!

TapshopaddictRecently DisappointedThis was one of my top podcasts, I listened to every single episode multiple times. The host Ginny is very warm and kind and has introduced me to new topics and viewpoints. However, her latest episode with the Radical Moms, (plus a few others but I just listened to this one so it’s top of mind) was disappointing. The guests were saying that they aren’t judgemental and were upset as being portrayed that way, then they all proceeded to be very judgemental about the use of a Snoo. I understood their points of marketing being predatory to new moms etc. but the verbiage they used “strapped down on a plank” “in a straight jacket” and being pro co sleeping as an alternative was too much for me. The babies in Snoo’s are in swaddles- that’s the straight jacket and they are strapped down because it moves. I’ve personally known two families who lost their baby through co sleeping.

French in progressDangerous alt-right pipelineI use to enjoy listening but she slowly started going far right winged. I stuck with it but now she’s full MAGA. I miss it when it was just about kids outside!
-
Mom, or Trying at LeastJust BeautifulThat’s it. Just beautiful. Wonderful and charismatic encouragement to be better and love yourself through the mistakes. God bless you.

Brittpark167My favorite podcast!I have loved every single episode I have listened to, there are so many different topics that lead me to GREAT books. It has opened my eyes to parenting ways and ideas I never would have stumbled upon if not for Ginny and friends. Highly recommended to anyone, with or without kids!

Hannah81915Favorite podcast EVERAfter 10 years of teaching elementary school, years of childcare, 5 years of parenting, you have completely changed my philosophy on education and parenting with your podcast. You’ve changed it for the better! Thank you so much for altering my mind, everything you say and what your guests have shared on the podcast has resonated with me sooo so much. I believe it has helped me find my true self and therefore helped me form my beliefs to help shape my children. It has even helped build friendships with families that have similar views. 1000 hours outside is by far my favorite podcast and the only podcast I listen to religiously. You are an incredible human with tons of talent! I am so grateful life took you on this journey so you could impact so many! Keep it up mama, you should be SO PROUD!

DylanviolinGinny is a Gift to Moms!Just listen to one episode and you will be blown away by how much Ginny cares. Her guests continually compliment how prepared she is as a podcast host—and it’s a delight to hear her enthusiastic voice as she both champions her guests while also asking really great questions. Also, there are SO many episodes!! I don’t know how Ginny does it, but I’m so grateful she’s utilized her inquisitive nature to bring truly wonderful content to parents! Nothing replaces reading, but this podcast will give you the push to seek out the most notable parenting books around by giving you a conversation with authors abound.

Room4ILarge family mom LOVE the contentI love that the programs are family friendly I can put on a podcast and listen in the van. Such a scope of material so much more than 1000 hours outside.
