As a mid fifties architect and principal in a small firm this podcast has been very fun and thought provoking. Id never heard of Bob or the show before he came to my local Aia meeting for a presentation and I’ve been hooked ever since. My wife really enjoys some of the shows I’ve shared with her even though she is in the tech industry because some of the ideas of the work, process and life are very similar.

2 years ago I was losing motivation toward my skill in designing and thought about doing something different til I stumbled upon this podcast I checked mr bob’s work on IG and since then I started to follow him and listen to his podcast’s, great work!

Isolating two host voices on two separate audio tracks makes it irritating to listen to with headphones. Stereophonic hearing is really important to comprehension, so hearing one person in one ear and one voice in the other ear hinders comprehension.

I started listening to the show about 2 years ago, right after I graduated from architecture school! I was missing the silliness and helpfulness of studio culture, and I think Bob and Andrew do a great job of recreating that environment for listeners like me! Much like architecture, the podcast covers a wide range of topics - architecture school, NCARB test, the workplace, etc... but they also personalize it with their own stories and experiences! Bob even had a whole episode about his home renovation! I think they’re very tuned into what their listeners want, and they always deliver hilarious + thoughtful content!

I came to listen to the podcast after an interview Bob Borson recently did with Erin Reinhardt, and have so quickly fallen in love with this show and all the content that comes with it! One thing I failed to mention in the title is the podcast is also hilarious at times... the fact that ten minutes can be spent debating the “would you rather” of aliens after an episode on sketching that leaves you feeling informed and excited to hear the next episode. A new favorite podcast for the books! Keep it up.

Gentlemen, Unfortunately, following your latest installment, I must now finally remove myself, and recommend the same to every one of my students, professional reports, and peers. In your latest evaluation of the the “perception of architects”, the mere idea of discussing attire and architects - and the connection to wealth was ill conceived, and even more poorly discussed and broadcast. Unfortunately for your recent podcast, the discussion ventured into stereotypes and preconceptions about “looks and appearances” ; an unfortunate issue that continues to plague the AEC profession. More profoundly...you both ignored these broader issues and their ties to financial austerities and socioeconomic challenges at their root. You’ve both certainly presented the topic of attire from the perspective of privilege, given your individual positions in the profession. However; In your respective corporate and university positions, have either of you considered, who can afford the better, more acceptable, more matching black clothes, or matching suit? More so, the dialogue (outside of appearance) seems to offer nothing to advance the profession. Hope this note ultimately finds its way to your respective HR departments for consideration. In the latest episode with Building Science Fight Club, it was fantastic and quite relevant to hear how people got their start, found their way, and blazed a trail. It is relevant because I am beginning my career in architecture and it was great to hear that we don't need to know everything. Even that we sometimes have no idea what we're doing along the way. Encouraging!

As an aspiring architect in the making, it was awesome to find a podcast that speaks to the entire process of an architects life from the beginning. I’ve beed reading the original Life of an Architect blog for years. It’s always been a favorite of mine and I love how the podcast expands on the blog by providing new perspectives from co hosts and of course Bob’s voice himself. The podcast is full of topical information which is clearly organized by episode and each has plenty of humor to make it enjoyable to listen to. Thanks Bob and keep it up!

All the useful information that an architect could want with a whole lot of fun thrown in as well. I often point college students and even high school students interested in architect to this podcast.

Although I’m a millennial, I tend to think like Bob and Andrew and always get great advise and a kick out of what they have to say. Great mentors even though I’ve never met them. The podcast helped restore my passion for architecture after grad school sucked it out.

Bob Borson adds the wit to the wisdom and his podcast is the “verbal” version of his former blog (of the same name). Young architects will get a real feel for what day-to-day life is like, and us more...ahem...’seasoned’ architects take comfort in knowing we’re pretty normal as we all practice our craft.

As an architect of 20 years I can tell you this guy is the real deal. Do yourself a favor and listen if you are thinking of being an architect, are an architect or ever wondered what an architect does. Fantastic!

A great and invaluable resource for the new and old (experienced!) architectural generations, for the licensed and those pursing licensure, for those in the academic and professional realms of architecture. The podcast is the tip if the iceberg too, their website, blog, social media pages, etc. are all equally great resources and sources of inspiration.

I’ve both read the blogs and listened to the podcast since discovering it during my time in school, and it has proven invaluable especially as I’ve started working professionally (and during those long Friday afternoons). Looking forward to seeing you guys at the AIA conference this year!

The podcast is funny but it has real life lessons in it as well perfect for my friends younger sister.

As a small architecture office, it can be isolating. Particularly when your partner is only your wife! No offense wife. I recently found this podcast and have been binging through them and they have helped provide insight into the challenges and thoughts of other archtiects. It is a great resource worth a listen.

I’m from Brazil, and used to do my Architecture and Urbanism bachelor degree in there, but I move to U.S. for study English and now planing on finish my degree here. And a few weeks ago I found this podcast, and is being amazing listening. Is so many good informations, and tips. Bob and Andrew are great architects ( is what I feel based on what I heard 😁 ) I’m loving learning so much with you guys. This is a fun and interesting podcast that talks about many things that are important to architects. Some of the information isn’t just for architects and many could learn from this podcast even if architecture isn’t something you’re interested in. They also have some fun which makes it interesting. Once in a while they go down a hypothetical rabbit hole that takes too long and eats into the time they could have talked about the topic at hand. I hope they keep up with the podcast and continue the interesting podcast going.

I’m a young, aspiring architect and I find this podcast very enjoyable to learn more about the ins and outs of architecture, design, and a little bit of life.

I’m not an architect but I love architecture and also love smart, snarky people. This podcast has it all. One unexpected bonus: Lots of great ideas for architectural landmarks I have added to my to-see list when I travel.

I’ve got this podcast on in the background as I work and I am so happy to have found Bob Borson! He is so authentic and funny-I found myself sitting here smiling to myself.

Bob Borson is quite literally one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. And one of the smartest. And anyone who has ever had a drink with Bob and co-host Andrew Hawkins knows that they are, individually, experts in their field, smart, professional in what they do, and passionate about architecture and its community. Together, they are a great big ball of wit, sarcasm and constant antics that keeps you laughing for hours on end. I would typically only see them in person at the annual AIA Convention. Imagine my delight when I realized I would get to listen to “The Bob and Andrew show“ every two weeks! Definitely tune into this one if you like good advice and insight, layered with snark, charm and a whole lot of architecture.

Even tho’ I have been an architect for many (!) years, I still pick up juicy tidbits from Bob and his cohorts. I live in the mountains and the podcast gets me down to Denver most felicitously. It’s like being back in an office (of staff > one, that is) listening to their banter and architectural nuggets which I don’t get as a sole practitioner, working alone in my loft. I wasn’t sure how this would work on a non-visual platform, but Bob pulls it off!

Bob imparts a lot of good information but tends to take a little while to get there. While there are a couple moments of nice dialogue, he doesn’t let his cohosts talk much - they mostly seem to be there to occasionally make a joke or LITERALLY repeat whatever he says.

I've been following his blog - which is also great - for years. I was skeptical when he announced he was starting a podcast, but it's even better than the blog! Always informative and entertaining.

I am four episodes in and it’s been pretty good, the title life of an architect doesn’t feel quite right tho so far, hasn’t been to much diving into the day to day workflow, which would be cool to hear. Maybe it’ll be in the next few. Am enjoying the conversations and random information.

As a long time follower of the blog, it is good to hear Bob and Andrew talk about becoming and being an architect. It would be fun some day to sit at the bar and talk with these 2 guys. I find it interesting and amusing for those just beginning their journey and seasoned professionals alike. Highly recommend.

I have been lucky enough to get to know Bob, he is passionate about his life in design in a way that still makes us laugh and inspire us in ways that make us want to be better designers and humans. He is honest and realistic and brings to the table a layer of real that is so difficult to find these days. If you love design, and you enjoy sarcasm... you should absolutely listen to this!

I think there are very few profession more shrouded in mystery and misconceptions than the architecture profession! One of the reasons might be the way architects are portrayed in movies, TV shows, etc... As the title implies, if you want to know what the day to day life of an architect is, from the mundane to bragging about it at cocktail parties, this blog is great! It offers a peak behind the curtains; what is like going thru architecture school, things architects like, things they do on a typical day, how much they earn, even how they vacation, and as I fellow architect I can tell you they are right on. I enjoy listening to the candor in which they (Bob and Andrew) approach every subject. I like the addition of a guest, I think it has legs. If you are interested in the profession, whether as an insider or outsider, give them a try, you will not regret it!

I appreciate the variety of topics covered and the candid nature of the presentation. The information is helpful especially with the operation of a design firm and what to expect.

As a fellow architect, I appreciate the warmth and approachable manner with which the process of architectural design is presented. Maybe not Vitruvius, but Bob and his team explain and illustrate the trajectory of architectural design with knowledge and humorous insight that make architects seem downright human!

This podcast nails life as an architect, is entertaining and distracting and I can't wait for the next episode. As an architect married to an architect you'd think I'd have had enough- but these guys are great

To hear the voice behind the Life of an Architect blog - one I've read for so many years - is like completing the annotations on a drawing...it adds depth, dimension, and detail to an already amazing thing. Bob and Landon are a great pair to listen to. They’re both genuinely funny and very well spoken. I can’t wait for more stories and insights from the two of them!
