    🪐AMAZING Sci-Fi Drama šŸ›°
Brilliantly produced, and a first class stable of actors, bring this almost-instantly addictive science fiction mini-series to life. The last two episodes had me in tears. The acting will impress even the Gods 😢... making this a heartbreaking, memorable triumph. One of the 10 Best science fiction podcasts ever made, in my own personal opinion.

    1000000/10, no notes!
I instantly fell in love with this podcast within the first 5 minutes or so. The perfectly natural banter, the sound design, the writing?? I ended up listening to the entire thing in one night and I was so enthralled that I couldn't put it down. I've relistened like 4 times since then, it's seriously one of my favorite medias of all time.

Space miners battle corporate greed and hazards of space
One of those you can't put down. Great sound, believable actors and story. Quickly became attached to the whole crew. Corporate greed and space miners forced to look out for each other- as no-one else will. Hope this writer made other podcasts

    INCREDIBLE
AND STRESSFUL. BUT MOSTLY INCREDIBLE. I listened all in one sitting at work and had to FIGHT not to get my emotions all over everything. Top notch writing and presentation, with so much to keep you hanging on every word right up until the very last second of the show. I wish I had found it sooner and I’m recommending it to everyone I know!!! Crew of the Hyacinth my beloveds 🄺🄺🄺😭

    What is that Asteroid?!
This podcast is the example of what an excellent audio drama should be. It has heart. It has suspense. And it’s an exciting thrill ride the entire way through.

    Gripping...
This podcast stayed with me long after I finished listening to it. On the surface, it’s a well paced, well acted science fiction drama but the true essence of this piece is the human element, the value of conviction and the cost of sacrifice. WELL DONE

    Couldn’t stop listening!
This show had me at the edge of my seat. It’s exciting and fast-paced, and I felt like I was really along for the ride of a lifetime. I genuinely hope the creators will produce a new project soon! I would love to listen. They are incredibly adept at producing audio dramas that stay with you long after they’re done.

    Amazing Sci-Fi story!!!
I absolutely loved listening to this. The Trailer got me hooked and the first episode definitely got my attention. The endings of each episode are so suspenseful and definite cliff-hangers!! I enjoyed listening to this. Amazing story and characters. The different characters and their unique abilities, character development, and emotions make this truly awesome!!!!

The Best Scripted Drama I’ve Heard
This was not really what I was expecting when I downloaded it. Made me cry...TWICE. Had to take a break from it for a few days after the first time and work myself back up to finish it. Then it happened again! Absolutely loved this podcast and wish this team would do more.

Carved it’s own niche that should be listened to!
I didn’t quite know what to expect when I began listening to The Hyacinth Disaster, but after a couple of episodes it proved gripping and well-told. Give it a listen, it is better than most! Also, it is surprisingly surprising, considering how obvious most stories tend to unfold.

    Annoying
Lasted 8 minutes into the first episode just pointless conversations

Best sci-fi I’ve listened to in awhile!
Found this gem while looking for something else, so glad I stumbled across it! It was incredibly engaging and I listened to it straight through, I’ve been recommending it to everyone.

    Great!
This podcast is great. It was easy to get into the storyline and they do a good job telling the story through dialogue. Very well done!

    Such a good story
Only podcast I’ve listened to twice. Great story, great acting, great sound, great directing. Hope to hear more from these folks.

    Just static and noise
I started listening because I liked a lot of similar podcasts. The neverending malfunctioning communications equipment is terrible to listen to. It just keeps going and is so grating on your eardrums. Got into the initial story thinking it would get better but it just doesn't.

    Checks all the boxes
Dramatic, tense, mysterious, tragic. Overall a very well-made audio drama and a great story. I do feel a little abandoned as far as answers to the mystery, but that’s not a bad thing. More, imagination fuel! I couldn’t stop listening!

    Waste of time
I anticipated action within the first two episodes but the only action was equipment malfunctioning... kept listening anyway but it was a total waste of time. DO NOT RECOMMEND
  • RedKnight277
Brilliant, but one plot aspect left uncovered
This is an excellent audio drama - incredibly well put together, phenomenal voice acting, believable interactions, and a great story. There is one aspect of the plot that gets raised repeatedly but not addresssed though, which is a little frustrating. But nevertheless definitely a 5* story.

    Extraordinary science fiction
This is one of the best modern audio dramas that I've heard in a long time. It manages to get across how being in space would be both claustrophobic and frightening isolating. Amazing use of sound design. Great characters and excellent writing and acting. It's a Shakespearean-style tragedy, so be prepared for that. I won't say any more than that.

    True Sci-Fi
Clever use of Black Box recording to present a full-cast space-based Audio Drama without the typical device of log entries. Great sound and acting, tight script, complete world, all in 7 episodes under 1/2 hour each.

    Highly recommend
A great listen I really, really enjoyed this work. Hope to see more from this creator.

    One of the best
I listen to a lot of audio dramas, and this one is really fantastic. The actors are really believable, the writing is very natural, and the world building is just amazing. You just don’t want this one to stop. Superb.

    Yes please!
Highly recommended. Sat here in my office finishing up the last few episodes as I couldn’t quite manage to turn it off. Love the characters, & the universe... will be following/supporting.

Best podcast story in a long time
The characters were brought to life in this podcast. The story and sounds and the little things all made them seem real. I listened to the first 4 at random times and then had to listen to the last 3 all at once just to see what happened. This is defiantly a story I will share with whoever listens to podcasts!

    Really great ride. Smokin good
Great writing, witty characters, killer sound. Get into it and lost in it. I’ll be listening to this one again. Shut up Finch. ...... Do another one in this universe please.

    Like everyone says, excellent!
I won't repeat what everyone has said, just add my name to the chorus of praise.

    Excellent podcast
Short podcast, good dramatic sci-fi fiction. Definitely recommend!
  • Emariewallis
    Heartbreaking, but worth the ride.
This podcast will draw you in, make you feel like one of the crew, and rip your heart out in the best possible way. Fantastic stuff!
  • PreppieTechie
A great story told with great production values.
Compelling story? Check Good voice acting? Check Atmospheric sound effects? Check If you enjoy dramatic podcasts at all, you should really give this one a shot. The world building found in this story is fantastic, on par with that found in better novels like Ender’s Game and The Expanse. The voice acting is really well done, and honestly, sounds even better at about 1.5x (which takes the occasional witty banter up a notch). The audio is really well mixed, with sound effects that support the show rather than get in the way. The series is extremely binge-worthy, with each episode leaving you wanting to know what happens next. My only complaint is that I wish there were more episodes. I really want to know more about this universe.

    Wow.
Immersive, gripping, and all around awesome. I’m a daily commuter and this was a wonderful (sadly brief) experience of a podcast. If you love science fiction-download this.

May have ruined me for other audio dramas
The characters here are so well written and acted that they immediately drew me into the action. It also made the ā€œDisasterā€œ of the title very hard to take - I felt the loss every time there was another loss. Highly highly recommend!!
  • JediTrilobite
    Great story
    I really enjoyed this one.
  • lfosgett
    This. Is. Incredible.
The Hyacinth Disaster does so many things right in just seven episodes. The audio quality is nothing short of amazing, and the added ambient sounds bring you onto the MRS herself. A stellar immersive experience that is worth binging every episode.

    Really good

    So good.
Ditto the guy who said just listen to it. Worth every minute. Beautifully done.
  • Skagra42
Great podcast that will make you cry.
This podcast is amazing. One thing that I loved about this is that from the beginning you know that some very bad things will happen to the miners. It is very sad and made me cry multiple times. The characters were good but I wish that there was more time for characterization.
  • Troutinator
    Fantastic!
Stumble across this gem and 15 minutes I’m hooked. Excellently executed. A must listen if you like a Sci-Fi, space, and excellent production values.
  • Classy1125
    Great Podcast
I just finished episode 5; have two more to go. But, I felt the need to voice my opinion about the series so far, now. I’ve listened to non-fiction podcasts before, but this is only my second fiction one. And I have to say it is stellar. Given that it is sci-fi, you know it has to be great if it stands on its own, without the need for all the flashy CGI and special effects in the genre, which honestly sometimes gets in the way of the storytelling. The sound effects here add to the story, and don’t detract from it. I was pretty much pulled into the podcast from the beginning; each character is very well drawn, there is a lot of humor and realness to their interplay, and the voice actors do a great job. The series is engrossing, and I found myself caring about all of the characters. It all came to a head for me at the end of episode 5 with this line: ā€œI’d like to go home please.ā€ Both the writing to that point, coupled with the actor’s skill, brought tears to my eyes. Well done.
