NateSkurry1Looking Back and Moving ForwardHey guys, what matchups would you like to see renewed? I am a Sparty and loved the Notre Dame home and away. Also what matchups moving forward would you like to see. Thank you

AaronCobb7Could Ohio State beat an NFL… if the NFL team had to play the opposite side of the ball?Big fan of the show guys and I’m currently deep into Bud’s summer school series. I love that it gives me an edge for CFB fantasy dynasty league. Seeing Bo Melton play corner this week for the Packers got me thinking of the level of athlete NFL players are. My question is whether you think there’s a college team that could beat an NFL team if all the NFL players had to play the opposite side of the balls, excluding QBs. So OL to DL. WR to CB etc. Thanks love the show!

Gordy1983Best CF PodStarted listening to you guys last summer and got hooked. I never miss an episode. Can’t wait for some locks soon…heading to Durham to teach for 3 days next week, any suggestions for a must try restaurant? Nothing healthy like seafood/salad.

bbRaiderSupers PlaygroundThank you gentlemen! That's all I can say. Sitting in a comfortable spot on the northern Gulf of America, steaming ab the realization that I can't watch the Noles @ the Beavers until the sideshow Savannah Bananas are done with their "crucial" matchup, I wondered: How would y'all pick the 16 super regional series for CFB based on 2024 AND 2025 data? I feel the parody is very high all-around. Peace & safe travels gentlemen.

Noles 2010State of Florida mailbag questionCover Three is hands down my go to pod for all things college football. Can’t imagine turning to anyone else during the season or otherwise for my weekly doses of CFB news and info. What are the chances that all three major programs in Florida (FSU, UF, and UM) are hunting for a HC come the end of the season? What does that look like for the programs collectively and individually if everyone is trying to find a new coach? Thanks guys, keep up the awesome work and Go Noles. -Mike

Cooper Wyatt Amer IIIMAILBAG QUESTION REGARDING TIESBest college football podcast in the land! Your recent mailbag episode about bringing back ties in college football had me thinking about some all-time great suspenseful walk-off field goals and misses. Seems like TV ratings gold. So my question is, if after a certain number of 2-pt conversion attempts teams were forced to a kicking related tie-break mechanism what would your ideal scheme be? Kick until someone misses at greater and greater distances? Cumulative total made yards at distances of the coaches’ choice? Blocked kick automatically wins? All ideas welcome. Thanks!

CowardRiley10Mailbag for Bud: BCOEHave you ever done a Blue Chips over expected for a school? Looking at certain schools may frequently land a 4 star OL, but not at wide receiver or vice versa. Would be interesting to see who has turned the tide at spots they don’t traditionally recruit well.
-
College Football NerdMailbagLove the Show! What would you think of College Football using the basketball tournament format with seeds 13-16 having to be group of 5. The 12 and 16 seeds would be the first four games. Once again love the show!

HarpDadSimulated SaturdaySimply the best podcast, sports or otherwise. Thanks for the summer school series keeping us updated on the offseason. In January of 2024 I became a dad (adding a member to the cover 3 family), and it has been the most fulfilling experience of my life. BUT it has really disrupted my college football Saturday routine. This summer, my wife and daughter will be away two days, so I’m taking off work, and planning 48 hours of glorious solitude. I would like to “simulate” a college football Saturday, by watching classic games on YouTube all afternoon and enjoying a few adult beverages. I had two ideas for which games to watch. 1.) the best games in each time slot: Michigan/App State for noon, Cam’s Iron Bowl for 3:30, and Vince Young’s rose bowl for prime time. 2.) watch games from across the best/wildest day of college football, for example the day of the Bush Push. I would love your guys’ input on which method you would do, or what games you would suggest. Bonus coverage, if you guys have a favorite episode of this podcast, I’d love to hear that, as my Saturday routine generally involves listening to the locks pod in the morning, and I’d love to incorporate that into my offseason “simulation” day. Thanks in advance!

Tjr2032MailbagAny thoughts on new balance /bc partnership? Do you think new balance will become more of a player in college football?

Fat FolsWhy does ND get a pass. This is the only college football pod I listen to. Year round, hard working and does all of college football. Someone asked the other day, if who picked a new favorite team… who would it be? It has to be Notre Dame. Huge following, gets to keep all the money, and gets a “free pass” on issues like of not being in a conference or humiliating lost to MAC school. Side question… would the Big Ten and SEC stop schedule ND in the future? Thanks guys!!!

Steve SuperiorMailbag QuestionAs a UF alum, I’m a big fan of the Cover 3 podcast even though I still have flashbacks to the time Danny broke the hearts of Gator Nation when he rallied the Noles in the Choke at Doak. The outcome of that game leads into my question about ties. I always like looking at old records and seeing things like 10-1-1 or 9-1-2. I honestly wouldn’t hate seeing ties come back, but just for the regular season only, and not championship or playoff games obviously. Since America is founded on the notion that all men are created equal, should we not make ties great again in college football?
-
MarshJD10Mailbag QuestionWith the CFB26 video game coming this July, what are y’all’s prediction for the final projection of conference alignment? I want to start my dynasty out with the projected mega conferences in year 1. Thanks for all the great content y’all produce and love the summer school episodes.
-
general constructionBest college football podcastI listen to a handful of college football podcasts and cover 3 is my favorite! Mailbag idea; you guys could do a draft for the group of 5 teams that have a chance of making the CFP. As you pick do a brief rundown on why they have a chance. I’d like to get your thoughts on teams that aren’t the “big” schools. I’m rooting for Memphis and Oregon state.
-
Jackmando1313MailbagI have been listening for a long time. My question is what does Bryce Underwood College Football Career Look Like. I think in his first year he struggles then in is second year he wins the Heisman Trophy and leaves for the draft.

Don’t buy this vpnMailbagBeen watching y’all from the beginning! Very first mailbag question. Mailbag✉️ Would a 12-team playoff saved any coaches’ careers in the past? If so, who?
-
Brett42891Mailbag Q: Big 12 power house ?Hey fellas, love the show. I love the big 12 chaos and want the parity to last as long as possible . But if you could see one program develop a significant advantage and win 3 conference titles in 4 years, and firmly assert itself as a big 12 king, who could it be. ?
-
just the facts 69Bunch of FSU guysIt’s a bunch of FSU guys who think you need a passport to go north of the Mason-Dixon Line. They have un-informed opinions on everything outside of FSU and the SEC. You can tell they hate that CBS broadcasts the big ten and the not the SEC.

AmherstTimMailbag: college football tone?Gentlemen, I listen to a great many sports podcasts: Eye on College Basketball; Talkin’ Baseball from Tomboy Media; Chris Simms Unbuttoned; Brian Windhorst Hoop Collective. What I have noticed that is different about Cover 3 is that you don’t hold back in calling players and coaches not good. I don’t hear that from the other pods. Gary and Matt don’t single out college basketball players and comment on any lack of abilities Nor do the hosts on the other pods. I hear Draymond Green being singled out for his conduct, but I don’t hear athletes or coaches just being called out as not good, except on Cover 3. So my question is…..is that negative tone just natural to college football, or is it approach your show chooses to go with? Thanks for your time. Tim Anderson, Amherst, MA

Don’t Change Ends Between OTsMailbag: CFB Road TripBest CFB pod out there. To all those who don’t listen, bless your heart. Mailbag: I’m planning a vacation this year built around college football. Kicking off with Oregon @ Penn St and ending with South Carolina @ LSU. The Saturday in between is free (October 4). I will be with my wife, who is a CFB fan and will enjoy the atmosphere, but also would appreciate a day out in a nice college town. What’s the move? Options include: Texas @ Florida; Miami @ FSU; UK @ Georgia; Vandy @ Bama; Wisconsin @ Michigan; Clemson @ UNC; MSU @ Nebraska; Boise St @ Notre Dame; Kansas St @ Baylor; Oregon St @ App St.

Mike, new jerseyMailbagHow do you guy think national media/podcasts can improve their coverage/analysis of the Big12 moving forward? Seems like a lot of regurgitating “random number generator”, “americas funnest conference”, “not the best football”, etc. but no real analysis beyond that.
-
The Mako SharkNILNo real question here but there is an irony that with the advent of NIL (the first thing that comes to mind is profiting from your name being on the back of a jersey that is sold) that fans are less likely to buy jerseys because of the increased likelihood of that player transferring. It’s not y’all’s fault but there is too much offseason talk about player movement and less about expected player performance.

ARSondagMailbag: Logos & Ireland Week 0This is by far the best podcast out there for football. I’m on the road every day for work and am extremely thankful for the regular podcasts including Summer School! You recently discussed the state of uniforms in college football. Do you think that the logos have gone downhill? As an Iowa State alum I wish we had anything but a block letter that could easily mean Idaho state or Illinois state How do you feel about the week 0 game in Ireland? If I was going to have a neutral site game for Farmageddon id prefer it be at Arrowhead Stadium where it’s more accessible for fans. Are there benefits to playing out of the country?
-
Isaac PerrigoFandomBeen a day one listener. I grew up a Vandy fan and went to Mississippi State and become a fan of them. Personally I have never had high expectations for a football team and never wanted to be a fan of Alabama, Georgia or Ohio State because there are only 2-3 regular season games each year that could either way. I contend I had more fun with James Franklin than Alabama did with Nick Saban. When MSU is at their best there are 8-9 high leverage games with about 2 guaranteed losses and 2 guaranteed wins. I find that more enjoyable. If you had to start from scratch what type of program would you choose to root for? Personally I would think a program in the Tennessee, Auburn, or Florida range with a better floor and higher ceiling, but isn’t a juggernaut.

madisonbuckeyeDrunk neighborhood foolsOk I used to really like these guys but the show has nose dived this past year. They have all the insights of 4 drunken fools at your neighborhood bar. Strong opinions and incredible ignorance make for good entertaining party but don’t exactly equal journalism. They may not care about the Michigan scandals but for the many coaches throughout the big 10 who got fired as a result of losing those games it wasn’t a joke. Please either keep your ignorant opinions in check or pick up the phone and ask one of those programs who had to play those cheaters for 3 years how they felt about it and how they’re feeling now. Just because you hate the ncaa doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be rules in the sport and consequences for breaking them.
-
BearcatBunchMailbagLove the show guys. Big 12 had a really strong offseason with regards to QB retention — do you think that the Big 12 has a better assortment of QBs than the SEC and/or Big Ten this season?
-
BearTerritoryCFB Champions/Europa LeagueHey y’all, Love the show! Listen to every episode walking around campus. I’m also a big European soccer fan and the recent Champions League/Europa League matches have me thinking about if this could be applicable to CFB? It’ll never happen, but hear me out: Let’s say we stay at 12 teams, we basically have two 12 team playoffs. Numbers can be changed, but let’s say Playoff 1 has 3 SEC, 3 B1G, 1 ACC, 1 B12, 1 G5, 3 At-Large. Playoff 2 has 2 SEC, 2 B1G, 2 ACC, 2 B12, 2 G5, 2 At-Large. It wouldn’t carry the same weight as the main playoff but they’d still be playing for a trophy, bragging rights, and money. It’d continue to decrease the value of other bowls but it’d mean another 12 teams are playing for something. Could even give the winner of the second playoff some sort of benefit for the next season. Thoughts? Jake

11 warriors SteveClown showThese guys are trying way too hard to be funny, especially the squeaky host with his annoying twang. He’s really out of place on a show with more knowledgeable people. But the finally straw for me is the way they have dismissed Michigan cheating to win a championship. That program was broken by 21, so Harbaugh started cheating to win. I have no idea why these guys all think it’s a joke. Are they playing to the scUM fans that hard? Anyway, I’ve found better shows out there.

UNCfan184Mailbag:Greatest CFB villains5/5 Love the podcast. Listen every day on my way to work. It gets me super pumped up to teach Kindergarten every day! Also shoutout to Chip, Tarheel born, Tarheel bred! Question, a lot has been said about Shedeur being a CFB villain the past two years. I wanted to know who you guys thought some of the greatest villains in CFB history were. Love from NC. Garrett

Enter the T ZoneMy favorite CFB podcast. Got time for a conspiracy theory?I love Cover 3 because I think it does the best job of providing a comprehensive view of the CFB landscape. My question is about CFB CONSPIRACY THEORIES. I have a conspiracy theory that Saban recently met with Trump to get an executive order restraining NIL so Saban can make a return to coaching. It’s widely reported that NIL was a huge factor in why Saban retired, so if he could get that more regulated it might make sense that he’d want to coach again. First off, do we think this is a “birds aren’t real” totally fake conspiracy theory or an “Epstein Island” where you might be onto something kind of conspiracy theory? Do you have any CFB conspiracy theories you believe in or love even if they aren’t true? Love the pod and I hope you answer my question.

Clemson RyanClemson vs Notre DameHi guys, long time listener of the Pod and excited alumni of both universities. I’m jumping into this very quickly after a 12 year agreement between Clemson and Notre Dame was signed. I was curious if this signified anything beyond Notre Dame and Clemson trying to improve their yearly schedules. Word around Notre Dame was they weren’t happy with some of the ACC competition coming to town. Clemson on the other hand seems to be bolstering their non-con going forward. Does this signify any long term affiliations by either to the conference? Or is this simply isolated to those schools? Also so excited summer schools are back! Keep being the best sports pod out there.

Dominick PDominick PetrilloGreat show. Extremely informative mail bag questionWriters note: I’m blind, so I’m dictating this. So my apologies for misspellings. You spoke a little bit about this before in terms of Bubba Cunningham. And I completely agree he should not be affected by it at all. But my question is what would have to happen in Chapel Hill for Jordan and Bill to be let go after one year or if it got really bad either in urban Meyer Jacksonville situation or even before the season even starts? If any of these three scenarios would happen, would Bubba Cunningham also be let go or is he safe because he never wanted to hire Bill in the first place.? Always love the show and always appreciate answering my questions.

Steven_1321MailbagIf you were college football commissioner, how would you settle the transfer portal? I think I would allow a one time transfer at the conclusion of a players sophomore season. This would guarantee 2 years for the team the player signed with on national signing day while allowing the player a chance at free agency for their remaining years of eligibility. Grad transfer rule remains the same, no penalty after graduation.

Seth_nonethelessTulane to BIGBest sports pod in the land. Thought. What if the BIG added Tulane just to screw with LSU and the SEC? Is it a chess move? Let Tulane fester there and be a distraction to the SEC? Just a fun thought. Love the show!

Just Want FootballBest CFB PodcastBest CFB pod in all the land! Mailbag question: Piggy backing off of Monday’s Quinn Ewers bad advice segment, in this era of NCAA having no teeth and player movement being restricted less and less, can you explain what prevents players who don’t get drafted where they want from coming back to college if they still have eligibility? Thanks!

summerville3UniformLong time listener first time reviewer. The Cover 3 Podcast is the best sports podcast on the planet hands-down! Makes you feel like you’re hanging around the bar watching football with your buddies. Now enough of the glazing my question is over the past several seasons there has been a steady decline of uniform designs and universities have gone back to more of a basic uniform design, such as North Carolina, TCU, Baylor, Maryland, Utah, and Illinois, Why do you think this is? And if you could bring back any uniform design, what would it be? Mine would be the 2016 Arizona State uniforms especially anything with a Crome helmet. Love to see what y’all’s answers will be . Go Yellow Jackets !!!!

jemison101Am I being too spitefulHey guys!!! Long time listener. I’ve always been a podcast guy but maybe one day I’ll switch over to YouTube. Anyway I’m lawyer in LA but I went to law school in good ole Knoxville. My roommate who is going to start at the firm with me soon goes to UCLA for law school. He broke the Nico news to me and like all of vol nation I harassed him and called him a liar like any respectable vol fan should have done. I now find myself in the unique position of being a vol fan in LA with Nico now coming to UCLA. I feel like I need to represent vol nation and go to EVERY UCLA home game and boo Nico. I want to wear my UT gear and boo Nico every single drive. My girlfriend said I’m being very spiteful and I need to let it go but I don’t think there are very many vol fans out here and Nico needs to know that he can’t just leave without any vol hate coming his way. Am I being too much or am I just being a good fan that wants to represent his team????

Brianstorm406MailbagWhat’s the odds Jerry Rice Award winning running back, and Omaha native, CharMar Brown lands at Nebraska? My gut says the Huskers wouldn’t have to tamper too hard.
-
Pray4accConference UnityOn the 4/16 show, talking about how no one’s sued the SEC over the no in-conference spring transfers rule because every school has agreed to it… how did y’all not make any comments about FSU and Clemson suing their conference over something they had agreed to themselves??
-
utah_23mailbagMailbag Question – You will be forced to miss a weekend of college football this season but you must chose to miss either the entire first weekend of the season (all 90 games Thursday through Monday) or you must miss the first round of the playoff (4 games). Which do you chose to miss? For reference, some notable week 1 games include: (Auburn v. Baylor) (Alabama v. Florida State) (LSU v. Clemson) (Texas v. Ohio State) (Notre Dame v. Miami); and yes, (Illinois v. Western Illinois).

Jakobi my valentineMailbag! Not counting coaches who are expected to compete for national titles (Sark/Lanning/Day/Franklin), who would y’all’s top 3 coaches be? I’m thinking Brohm/Dillingham/Sumrall

skearedHave you played Gridiron Dynasty from whatifsports?Absolutely love the show guys, great chemistry between the hosts. Onto the fun! Have any of yall tried Gridiron Dynasty from whatifsports? (Whatifsports.com). My brother got me into this game and I can not stress enough how amazing this game is. Short video on the homepage explains everything! You start in d3 and work your way up (if you want) through d2, d1aa and finally d1. You are the coach, all games are done by sim. But you handle everything! From in-depth recruiting, scheduling non-conf, playbooks, depth charts, rankings, all while competing against other humans and AI along with so SO much more. I only got into this about 8 months ago but I can honestly say I’ll be playing til the day I die. For any college football lover it’s absolutely amazing. Keep up the great work, my most favorite podcast of all. Stay safe! Skeared

5 Slice RickMailbagSecond time long time. Can you explain to me why does it seem like basketball is struggling with player retention in NIL portal era . Players 3,4 school , Meechee Johnsons. While football especially at the top keeps most of their core players. Is it just as simple as more money in football ?

404MaconMuch Love much big tenGuys love the show, long time listener. But you boys have definitely gone BigTen. I understand Tom has waterboarded you all into this love. I don’t remember SEC Tuesday’s back when CBS had the SEC. With Danny Boy, I understand the hate him being a southern boy, but Chip Mr UNC to Big Ten’er is strange. Love the SEC hate even though I bleed SEC it keeps me warm at night. . Tommy Boy has won and made the show Big Tenner. I understand the jealousy of our greatness and still love the show. Hang tough and but change the show name to Tommy’s Big Ten’ers. Keep up the great work SEC SEC.

TCC16BFSU Mailbag QuestionHey fellas, I posted this on one of the FSU message boards and got some mixed feedback, so I figured I’d pose it here to get some inside and outside perspectives. After 2024, I’m starting to think that FSU is the most embarrassing division 1 college football program of the last 10 seasons (taking general talent level, reputation and expectations into consideration). Or at least they have had the most publicly embarrassing moments happen TO them in the last decade. 2014- talented but underperforming team coming off of a national championship and an offseason of embarrassing antics gets absolutely steamrolled by Oregon with a goofy drop back fumble that still gets replayed to this day 2015- decent season, but embarrassing loss to GT on field goal block return 2016- one of the worst ranked on ranked losses you’ll ever see in Louisville. Truly the start of an era of achieving so little with so much talent 2017- broken by Alabama and an awful season culminating in being abandoned by Jimbo for the cult in College Station 2018- Taggart. Swag surfing. VA Tech. Need I say more? 2019- Taggart. Boise meltdown. Hydrategate. Need I say more? 2020- Mike’s first year, didn’t stand much of a chance but the trend of being one of the worst power conference teams you’ll ever lay your eyes on continues for the third straight year. 2021- Jacksonville State and the SINGLE most embarrassing recruiting flip in the history of any collegiate sport ever with He Who Must Not Be Named. 2022- signs of life!!! Andddddd more last minute, high-profile recruiting flops. 2023- one of the most impactful injuries to a player of a team who legitimately had a shot at winning it all (in recent memory) followed by the Great Snubbening. 2024- biggest win percentage drop off in the history of any college football season anybody outside of a retirement home can remember Just want to see if you all can challenge this narrative with another team in the same relative pecking order as FSU in the last decade or so where on the field performance is the main defining factor (not situations like Penn State, Baylor, etc.) I also acknowledge UF could be in the running (Jim McElshark, Will “Do Steroids” Grier, blocking your own teammate, etc.) and, well, nobody ever expects anything out of Miami so…. Who else? Am I too close to the program as a fan or am I onto something?
