    Viator
Great Viator episode! As always, great personal stories, the challenges and triumphs, and just being on the edge, either seeing into the future or staring into the abyss. Basically, achieving greatness is not easy or predictable.

    Love the show!
Love this show and I am no entrepreneur. I listen to it for the stories, the great life insights they offer and Guy’s empathetic attitude.

    Non-advice
Nobody can question guys prowess in one on one interviewing, and storytelling. But his business acumen is questionable. On the “advice line” his guest often don’t say much, and he gives questionable business advise. A caller came in asking about how to deal with being cash when he has too much stock of his product. And Guy’s advice was to start a new product line???

Love this podcast and the new advise line shows are excellent!!
I've been listening for a couple of years and so enjoy and admire the back stories of each of the company beginnings. The last one I listened to was the one about the Ziegler's ... from Banana Republic to Tea .. I loved how they just remained open and together they would figure it out each step of the way. Especially their desire, and dedication to their values and vision. They did not get caught up in the money (although of importance) ... and together they remain. Awesome! And, I love the advise shows - so cool what people are dreaming up, full of hope and creativity!

Let’s here from more brilliant young women founders :)
Long time listener and Guy Raz fan. Although generally super respectful and kind, I find it difficult to compare how the show frames the success of women founders vs men. The success of Tara Bosch of Smart Sweets is framed as a “lucky” idea by the Host rather than “brilliant.” Tara is complimented in the show many times but I hate to see her success diminished even a smidgeon. On the other hand, I remember the founders of Magic Spoon being presented differently but maybe I should give it another listen to check my theory :) Tara mentions how the Sara Blakely episode inspired her, and would love to hear more success stories from brilliant young women ✨

    Every episode is 5 star
I love listening to every podcast. Very interesting and I learn something every time. Keep It up Guy!

Can Advice Line be its own podcast?
It’s silly to give HIBT 3 stars because it’s a 5 star podcast that I’ve been following forever. I’m only giving it 3 stars on the rare chance this review is read and acted on. Advice Line should be it’s on podcast and those episodes are clogging up my feed. It may seem inconvenient to listeners to have to follow a million separate podcasts but I’d rather do that because then I know every episode that comes in, I actually want to listen to. Advice Line is cool but not for me and I start to lose track of where I left off on the true HIBT episodes. (We should bring “first world problems” back.)

    Let them tell their story
I love the guests and their stories, but to me, it seems like the interviewer interrupts the flow and inserts his assumptions about what happened, sometimes correct and sometimes not. I just want to hear the guest tell their story! The interviewer’s questions are good and often reveal more behind-the-scenes and business-relevant info, but it seems like they aren't being asked at a relevant time in the interview.

    Interesting Show, But…
Even though these shows are interesting and informative, this show, along with the new trend with podcasts, now requires a subscription of 5.99 per month in order to listen to the last couple of shows. If I now have pay for every podcast I enjoy, it will bankrupt me. I don’t pay for podcasts. Even if I had all that money, I wouldn’t pay unless they offered a donation. I would gladly pay more if that were the case and I had the money. I just believe in including everybody, especially when it comes to information sharing. Throwing adds in is ok, I suppose, providing they are not excessive and are distributed equally among all listeners regardless of their ability to pay.

The advice Guy gets out of his guests is pure gold for entrepreneurs. Anytime I have a down day as a business owner, HIBT inspires me and reminds me why I love owning a business.

    Advice Line
Loving the advice line format! The traditional format is still entertaining and informative (please keep it!) but the advice line is a fun addition. I’d also love to hear more from service-based app founders. Thanks!

I’ve loved this podcast for years but the ads go on forever. What a painful experience.

    Ugh
Don’t force me to listen with a ‘free trial’. I’m an entrepreneur also but shady sales makes my stomach churn. Desperate is not a good look.

    steve fabro/sp? solar car
i am 100% with solar products. a car like that sounds good but is it practical in climates that get less & less intense sun like the midwest and other parts of country? sure great for CA, NV, FL, etc but what about the rest of us.

I’m really inspired by this podcast!
I love this podcast! You should interview Shea and Syd McGee who founded Studio McGee and McGee&Co.

    Professionalism and skill
I can tell bu how Guy is talking throughout the episode that he has done this before. MANY times. Often times, podcast hosts aren’t that interested in being high energy and serving at the highest capacity, yet Guy clearly displays his competence and excitement to share updates, biz education, etc. Appreciate the work!

Love the show but the Mark Rober episode…meh
I love this show. There are so many episodes with great information and details about the ups and downs of entrepreneurship that don’t get discussed elsewhere. However, THIS particular episode with Mark Rober left me a little unsatisfied. My daughter found Mark Robers videos during COVID. It was a time where school was so tough being at home and virtual but as parents we tried to manage any additional screen time so it wasn’t filled with junk. I can not explain enough how helpful his videos were in explaining science and engineering in a fun way. She loved those videos and so did we. It was educational, interesting and really went a long way in showing her that science and engineering could be engaging long term. As a long time listener of the show. I could tell the approach to this interview felt different. There were several times were it felt like Guy didn’t know much about Mark Rober or just read from a high level background script, wasn’t interested or didn’t connect with the content. Like Guy doesn’t respect what Mark does for a living. Not saying this is true or reflective about how Guy feels. I’m saying the interview came off that way. I totally get not giving much credience to general YouTubers or influencers or how if you have no background on him, general descriptions make his videos sound like “Frat boy or jackass antics” BUT Mark Rober and his content are much different. He is an engineer but much more like a relatable scientist that educates kids in an era that has captured their brains with TikToc dances and irrelevant events. He deserved a more engaging and respectful interview. There were so many opportunities to ask more engaging questions or talk about how his content is giving kids an opportunity to see how STEM activities can still be enjoyed as an adult. I just expected more and was a little let down here.

    An Inspiring Perspective
This podcast has had a large impact on how I think about the world. Now when I interact with a product or business I wonder about the origin story, the human inspiration that drove it, the failures and challenges that were eventually overcome. It has certainly sparked in me an interest in entrepreneurship. I would highly recommend to anyone!

Great but too much diet content
Guy Raz is incredible, and I learn so much! But Guy also has an agenda with diet and nutrition topics — I wish he would stay away from promoting controversial diet-culture companies

    Inspiring and captivating
I discovered HIBT four years ago and have been captivated by the episodes. I would go for a walk after work and listen to one a day. I started by searching for the episodes about companies I love and use…then I just listened to them all!! I am now that person that shares random trivia facts about companies when I’m with others. I recommend companies to others when I hear a story that I respect. I patron companies that I might not have noticed. Honestly, I’ve learned so much about entrepreneurship and find it so interesting, that it is a field I would have considered many years ago had I known what it was. Thank you to all who have worked to put together this wonderful podcast!

    One of My All-Time Favorites
A great show that has stood the test of time. I consider Guy Raz a master at what he does. His talent is subtle but real.
  • Johhny64
    Was a great show
Has Guy and team lost the ability to edit a story down to the essential parts. It seems to me the goal is stretch every story to about 1.5 hours. Way too many nonessential details. The old format where the episodes were around 45 mins to an hour was so much better. It now takes them 45 mins to cover the background leading up to the main story. Many of my friends have the same feedback. It is a shame that they ruined a great podcast.
  • Yoyomama99
    Get rid of the music
The interviews seem to be over produced, if that’s what you call it. Why would you have music playing while your guests are talking about the details on why you are interviewing them ????? !!!!!!! So annoying. Makes me move on to another podcast.

    Love this show!
I started two companies proximately 22 years ago, and they could not have been more different. Both were very successful, but I certainly had my ups and downs. I am totally inspired by the stories, I have my laugh out loud moments because yeah… I’ve been there… Done that.. 🤣 . I’ve learned so much from this podcast.

Guy has kept me company for many a road trip with HIBT - the variety of companies and backstories have forced me more than once to stay in my car till a story is finished. Great podcast!
