SivanisivanGood podcast, more female and non-binary influences pleaseI love this podcast. Keep listening to it! It’s specific and weird and great. But it makes me sad that most of the names these female / non-binary artists name as influences to their work are men. There’s always the one Patti Smith thrown in the mix with a list of all men: David Bowie, David Lynch, Miles Davis, Danny Elfman, Jim Jarmusch, Mike Patton, tom waits, James Brown etc etc etc etc Yes, we grew up as young musicians with mostly these men as role models. Women were often marketed as sex symbols while men were marketed as serious powerhouse artists. But Please! we need to change the paradigm and dig just a tiny bit deeper to find the courageous and popular and talented women who also influenced us or who influence us Now! Here are a few of mine: Nina Simone Umm Kulthum Billie Holiday PJ Harvey Sybille Baier Bjork Kate Bush Betty Davis Fiona Apple Kim Deal Bands: Deerhoof The Slits X Jefferson Airplane Sonic Youth The Knife Portishead Sinead O’Connor Mazzie Star Cranberries St Vincent Amyl & the Sniffers Shannon & the Clams Stereo lab Blonde Redhead Nico Francoise Hardy

melodie-cPlease Fix the TitlesThis is an amazing podcast, but you are making a big mistake in how you title the episodes. ALL four of the artists need to be included in the title of each episode. Right now there is no rhyme or reason as to why you exclude certain artists. It doesn’t even seem to be based on popularity. For example the latest episode is titled to emphasize two artists, Jehnny Beth and Kelly Lee Owens, while excluding two artists who are about equally well known (maybe even better known here across the pond) Tei Shi and Jessy Lanza. No disrespect to Jehnny Beth and Kelly Lee Owens, but I wouldn’t seek out a podcast just about these two, because I don’t particularly listen to them, but I am a HUGE stan of both Tei Shi and Jessy Lanza, yet I almost missed this episode because I had to click to the description to see any mention that it included my favorite artists.
