Fiction #139Drama #65

With blood on her hands, the infamous Dolores Roach has fled the recent shocking destruction in Washington Heights and gone into hiding deep under New York City in an abandoned subway tunnel. But she’s not alone underground, and her dark night of the soul is interrupted by an extremist faction of similarly self-exiled tunnel-dwellers whose space she's invaded. Facing re-incarceration back above ground, but pushed to the limits of shame, paranoia, lust, hunger, and depraved entrepreneurialism below it, Dolores is the outcast of the outcasts again - until she takes her survival in the tunnels into her own Magic Hands. Season 2 of The Horror of Dolores Roach is written and directed by Aaron Mark and stars Daphne Rubin-Vega, Donnell Rawlings, and Amy Ryan.

    Love it !!!!
It’s great to have real everyday characters It could be any city. It’s a shame that some ppl are upset that minorities are no longer invisible

    Can’t get enough!
I love the podcast, I’ve binged it while decorating the house. Of an evening, I would binge the series on Amazon. I love it. A true modern day Sweeney Todd.

    Great podcast
Amazing podcast, great it has so much inclusivity in its characters. It’s a shame some bigoted people can’t appreciate how wonderful this is.

    Started good but then….
Was gripped by the raw dialogue but then….., five mins in, the neighbour is trans, not relevant to story, a few chapters in, a female character has a wife, not relevant to story, at this point I gave up, worse than the bbc, shoehorned wokeness box ticking desperately trying to normalise and lecture , pathetic, also the story spun out into the ridiculous

    Creepy and engaging
Did not expect this podcast to be as good as it is. Daphne Rubin-Vega absolutely brings this story to life. Her voice is on-point NYC gritty. I actually feel like I’m there in the midst of Dolores’s mayhem when listening. Well done cast, crew, writers and directors.

    Brilliant!
Best fictional podcast I have listened to. Dolores draws you in from the start, excellent writing, acting and production 10/10 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  • I have none.
    Excellent, but gory.
You definitely root for Dolores in this clever, quick, reboot of an old tale. I won’t tell you which one because that’d be a spoiler! Great production values, great script, and stunning performances. But not for faint hearted. Brilliant.

    Excellent
One of the few podcasts I’ve wanted to listen to from start to finish. Great story and impressive acting from the two main stars - I felt like I was actually there in New York. I really hope they’re planning a second series.

    Very good!
I was extremely impressed. The acting and production is top notch! Was totally drawn in. Only criticism was the swearing. I’m a young chap, not prudish at all. But felt a little at times like they were trying to squeeze in as much f words, c words and b words as possible in 5 mins :) a bit over the top. Not needed. Otherwise excellent!

    Unsettling, relentless & superb
I wasn’t expecting this story at all but am a fan of gimlets past dramas. Highly recommend.

    Disappointing
Started great but fizzled out into predictability and an unsatisfying denouement.
